Subject: Lyr Add: SOMEWHERE OUT THERE From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Dec 04 - 12:27 PM "An American Tail" (note spelling) was NOT a Disney production. It was produced by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures. Steven Spielberg was executive producer (whatever that means). In the soundtrack, SOMEWHERE OUT THERE was performed by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram. It won a Grammy for "Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television" – so that rules out its being older than 1986. Since then, lots of other people have recorded it. Lyrics are available at lots of places on the Internet. SOMEWHERE OUT THERE James Horner, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight, Someone's thinking of me, and loving me tonight. Somewhere out there, someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another, in that big somewhere out there. And even though I know how very far apart we are, It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star; And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby, It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky. Somewhere out there, if love can see us through, Then we'll be together, in that big somewhere out there. |

Subject: Lyr Add: SOMEWHERE OUT THERE From: Tilell Date: 01 May 97 - 08:40 PM Well, the song "SOMEWHERE OUT THERE" is indeed one of the feature songs in Disney's An American Tale . . . in addition it is most certainly older than that. The song is available commercially through several Jazz sheet music supply houses and if you just want the lyrics, rent An American Tale. Contrarily . . . here are the lyrics that my memory is pulling out of a performance a LONG time ago:
Somewhere, out there
Somewhere, out there,
And even though I know how very far apart we are
Somewhere out there, I think there's more, but that's the basics. Oh, incidentally, the song is in the first American Tale, not American Tale Two: Fivel Goes West. |
Subject: RE: 2001 Theme Somewhere out there From: belter Date: 01 May 97 - 02:13 PM I believe Some Were Out There was used in disney's animated feature An American Tail. It was being sung by a brother and sister seperated from each other. I also have a fealing that the song was older. |
Subject: RE: 2001 Theme Somewhere out there From: Mountain Dog Date: 01 May 97 - 12:53 PM The notorious theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey is "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Strauss (although the Blue Danube is played during the Pan Am flight to the moon). I think "Somewhere Out There" is actually the love theme from Disney's animated feature "Alladin". Hope this helps. |
Subject: RE: 2001 Theme Somewhere out there From: jhill Date: 01 May 97 - 12:31 PM Beck, I may be wrong, but I do not recall any lyrical music in 2001 a space odyssey. The opening music was Blue Danube by Johaan Strauss. |
Subject: 2001 Theme Somewhere out there From: beegee@atlcom.net Date: 01 May 97 - 07:33 AM I believe the real name of this song is Theme from 2001. The lyrics begin: Somewhere out there, Beneath the pale moonlight, Someone's thinking of you and loving you tonight.. Would greatly appreciate any help with the rest of the lyrics, can't get it out of my head. BECK |
