Just want to heartily recommend 'Icebound' to everyone and encourage those within travelling distance to get along to hear it - it's a truly amazing story, excellently told by The Roaring Forties

My greatx4 grandfather was reputedly at 'Baffin Fair' in 1830. Here's a song I wrote about The Diana, the last whaler to sail from Hull, that got icebound for months in 1866:

The way things are going, they might well be icebound in Grimsby.

On Sunday Feb19 at Grimsby Folk Club ,The Roaring Forties will be presenting "Icebound" , the story of the whaling ships stuck in the ice of Baffin Bay over the winter of 1836/7. The 60 minute presentation includes 13 original songs along with readings from the ships logs and the diaries of the crews.
Not to be missed!
The second half of the night wiil see The Roaring Forties performing their more usual set of sea songs and shanties...with plenty of choruses to join in with.
If you're in the area get along there!
