Freddie,

Dick Greenhouse and Susan of the DT have been doing this for years. They have never requested help and I am sure they know there would be help if they wanted it, so I surmise they don't want help.

As George told you, Dick and Susan run through all the threads searching out lyrics that have been added. It is suggested that if you do add lyrics, that you make a Lyr Add thread in addition to what ever thread you originally post it on.

If my memory is correct, the Mudcat has been averaging about 750 songs every six months. You may also submit songs directly to Dick G.. My preference is for you to post them here, then we can all enjoy them earlier.

Ok. So - if I offer a song to the mudcats unedr 'lyric add' - does it get added to a 'list' to be put onto the database when the writers have time? Would they like help with this mammoth task?

The people who do that sort of thing take a certain amount of time. Usually it is because of their busy schedule outside of Mudcatting. I believe the database gets updated at least twice a year.

Please do keep submitting queries, of course, checking that the song isn't in the database or in the Forum somewhere first.

They WILL get around to adding whatever songs you've been helpd on.

That's how I understand it.

Silly question again! I've recently been helped out with the lyrics for three songs, but I notice that they've not made it to the database. Is this for copyright reasons? Surely, especially as one of the songs I wanted came from an old thread this would be good idea. So - whose responsibilty is it to add songs, and how do we go about checking permission? Very sorry if I'm trying to reinvent the wheel here, but I'd like to know so that I don't go asking for information that's already available.
