Subject: RE: anyone heard of Star Melodeon ? From: GUEST,Dave Hunt Date: 31 Jul 14 - 02:54 PM There were countless makers around 1890s - 1920s...many of then in Saxony...sold all over Europe, including England, Scotland and Ireland I have a large collection of early melodeons and many of them were very cheap and simple in the first place. But I have also picked up some rarities amongs the crap...a beauty from the Ludwig brothers, looks like a piano accordion, but notes are alternate black - white all way up, it's actually a C- C# melodeon, and has a tremelo key on the back. Good place to get them is Ebay...many under 20 quid. |

It makes a huge difference to the ability to assess its age and possible origin. Harder to determine value as that would depend on the internal condition too. |
Subject: RE: anyone heard of Star Melodeon ? From: mayomick Date: 29 Jul 14 - 01:59 PM thanks Maeve , I'll write to that site. He found it an old farm house ten miles from Newry on the southern side of the Irish border . There was an old British army bayonet there as well from 1890 ,notched with dates that we guessed must have marked campaigns. I'm trying to envisage who might have owned them . |

Subject: anyone heard of Star Melodeon ? From: mayomick Date: 28 Jul 14 - 01:39 PM Has anyone heard of Star Melodeons? A friend who was clearing out a house found one last week. It needs a couple of buttons otherwise seems in condition. I can't find anything on the internet .Google "Star Melodeons", all you get is things like how to play twinkle twinkle little star on the melodeon. |
