Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: DMcG Date: 27 Aug 16 - 04:44 AM Having read some more about it via Google, it is to do with cross domain access, so it is almost certainly the advertisements trying to capture some information. And that will depend on the advert, which explains why it sometimes appears and sometimes doesn't. You can (supposedly) stop it by enabling cross domain access. I will give that a try and then look to see if I can find a less global solution by treating mudcat as a special case. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: DaveRo Date: 27 Aug 16 - 02:50 AM I'm pretty sure that the only javascript in mudcat is in advertising scripts - eg Google adsense. It might be a current bug or it might be cached elsewhere. So (temporarily - if you prefer) blocking those ought to stop it. I don't use IE so so I don't know what's available (AdBlock Plus etc). |
Subject: RE: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: DMcG Date: 27 Aug 16 - 02:19 AM That's always worth a try, DaveRo, but in this case it didn't help. I agree (if that's how you are thinking) that it smells like a JavaScript issue to do with differences between functions that return values and those that don't, so it is possible that an older .js file is cached and not being refreshed properly ... but no. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: Louie Roy Date: 26 Aug 16 - 06:36 PM I get it 3 or 4 times a day for no reason |
Subject: RE: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: DMcG Date: 26 Aug 16 - 12:53 PM Agreed it is not all the time, and it can affect any change of page (e.g. following a link). But - so far - it is only Mudcat for me. And other browsers don't seem to be a problem. |

Subject: Tech: Another Internet Explorer problem? From: DMcG Date: 26 Aug 16 - 12:10 PM This has only started happening fairly recently, and only seems to affect Mudcat on Internet Explorer. When I refresh the page I am getting a popup: Are you sure you want to leave this page? Message from webpage: false ->Leave this page ->Stay on this page. Anyone else getting it? Have I set one of the more obscure options? |
