Who let the Yankee Bootneck aboard? in my day we used to shout at marines "Bootie Bootie can't catch me" and when they grabbed you by the throat a few seconds later "Fast aren't ya Royal" of course they were RM's (real marines) not the US marines (U/S meaning unservicable)

Okay Major (you can't have marine Captains on ships they are all Majors)put your .45 away I was just jerking ya lanyard to see if the "old dog" would bark (I know ya did but please don't bite) Pull up a glass of rum at the Globe and Anchor Pub and join the fun. "Semper Fi" welcome aboard. No disrespect intended; I've had to take war far too seriously myself. Yours, Aye Aye Sir. Cordially. Dave

My skills as a captain are legendary. (or is that fictitious?) AS a leader, I've been told that people will follow me anywhere---out of curiousity.

Perhaps Art could second Dick?! And whisper puns in his ear:

"OK Dick, that was a good one. He ALMOST had you, but has he heard the one about.....?"

Martin Ryan (haven't seen him about lately) has some experience sailing, including tall ships. I have more aspiration than experience, but have done a bit. We're both usually on the other side of the Atlantic, however.

Rick, in my extensive nautical experience (4-5 years in the sea cadets and the occasional sail crewing for my late father-in-law!)I never heard anyone say "Aaargh me hearties", or even "Aaargh, Jim, lad" which is Tony Hancock doing Robert Newton as Long John Silver!
The most often heard word in the British navy begins with f and is used alternately with any other word and substitutes for every adjective and adverb and most nouns!
RtS (let's go down to Bimini to get some Jamaica rum, Cp'n Greenhaus, sir)

I swore I wouldn't respond to Duckboots question, but, it just tickled the hell out of me. No lass, the head is so named because it is in the "head" of the ship. Its a platform with a hole in it, and, when it is rough, it is self flushing!! no paper needed either lol

Does anyone know THE LOCH ARCRE by Masefield? it will make you hair stand up. One of my favorite poems.

As soon as I get Camsco minimally sorted out, I'll check on details of charters. My posting was simply to see if anyone was interested--it seems that we have some sea-going wannabes out there.

Watch this space.

Dick, would this be out of Mistic, Conn? They have some wonderful sailing ships there. Sign Glenn and I up please. I presume this will be in warmer weather. I went on one out of Mistic that served us whole lobster and steak for dinner. We were only out for two days. 4 or 5 days would be wonderful if we get some wind.

Love, annap

I want a demonstration of "Keel Hauling"! Mostly I want to know if real sailors go: "Aharrrrrrr! Me hearties!" Heather (Duckboots) would like to know if the "Head" is situated on the "poop" deck. Well...actually....she wouldn't...but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Yeah, I'd like to go. Sounds like it would be great fun. Arlo Guthrie takes a group on a riverboat cruise every year. A schooner sounds perfect for us.

Well you got my attention Dick! The closest I've come to a sea cruise was when I opted for 3 nights on a moored whaler while playing the Mystic Seaport Festival. T'was fun. The alternative was a motel, and apart from a hot bath, I didn't miss a thing. Duckboots has never been on any kind of boat I believe, and this sounds fantastic. More info good sir. Please.
Rick
