Subject: Lyr Add: I make-a the bucks (to I Ride an Old Pai From: Haruo Date: 06 Oct 18 - 10:21 PM I just found a Mary Garvey compilation CD in the car, Cannery Shed or something like that. I've had it for a number of years but maybe never actually played it till now. Anyhow, here's my transcription of a song on it sung to "I Ride an Old Paint". I make-a the bucks, I pack-a the fish, I lay them out head to toe, flat as you wish. I take to the market, I pack them in ice, Oh, little fishes, now don't you look nice. Refrain: Swim around, swim around, and around, and around, And the country we live in is called Puget Sound. I come from the Old World, I fish the sardine, They call me a wop here, now what does that mean? I work with the Chinaman, Muslim and Greek, All color they come in, all language they speak. Swim around... My brother Domingo, he work on the docks, He paint the picture that go on the box. The fish, they so happy, they jump in the air. Watch out, little fishes, I catch-a you there. Swim around... I tell-a my son's, you go to the sea, You be the captain, not fish tack like me. I sitten them down and many times told, The sea is the silver, the fish is the gold. Swim around... Swim around... |
