This is a truly fine song and should be on the Yorkshire Garland website, I think Mick McGarry singing this one a Hull man with provenance from Linda

Linda and Hazel(Hissyfit) have their own harmony duo version and is truly moving) as moving as Morley main disaster as sung by Val Marsden! see Hissyfits website and follow them on fb ~ they have just been to Holland singing ( aleaf out of "The Young 'uns" book maybe!

Linda wrote also Sparehand and Sweet Minerva and others, i love their harmonies

A great duo and really lovely people

Ray

I assume this is the song that was wanted: Lyr Add: THE LUCKIEST SAILOR (Linda Kelly).

There are some related songs in this thread: Lyr Req: Lament for the Hull Trawlers.

This article in Wikipedia gives some background: Hull triple trawler tragedy (1968). The three ships were the St. Romanus, the Kingston Peridot, and the Ross Cleveland.

Any chance of emailing it to me at james@acoustic.demon.co.uk? I have a gig on February 5th and I'd like to have a crack at doing that song!

James

It is really wonderful and generally lasts all day actually it was a little subdued post xmas blues I guess. We had a session at the begining of December which would have blown you away. it was packed out and there was a huge range of instruments. The next session will be on the first sunday of february so try and make it. Thanks for your comments on the song Mick McGarry is going to record it, but I'll get the lyrics to you via your ma.See ya soon

Still, I really would like to learn that song. Positively spine-tingling stuff. I kid you not!

Isn't Nellie's wonderful? I went back for last orders, and the session was still going strong :-)

Today I heard a tremendous song about the loss of the Peridot. I'm guessing that Little Dorrit might be able to help me out with the lyrics to this one. Am I right?

Cheers,

( :-]) Jam
