Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... (songs) From: Gurney Date: 12 Jun 14 - 05:15 PM Marcus uses the postscript line 'And I'll masticate my miseries away.' It's on his CD 'Laid Down.' Well worth buying. If you like The Chocolate Song you'll probably like 'Spider in the Bath' and 'When The Boys Are On Parade' too, but all the songs on the CD were written by him, and they are all thoughtful. Or thought-provoking. An infuriatingly talented, multi-instrumental artist. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... (songs) From: GUEST,Guest - Lin Date: 12 Jun 14 - 01:44 AM Well I wasn't familiar with many of the chocolate songs mentioned but just had to reply to this topic! I am a chocoholic. Not an alcoholic and never been into heavy drinking, never been addicted to any drugs or cigarettes. Never been addicted to gambling. Not even addicted to having to be on a cell phone or look constantly at the cell phone. (they say the average person checks their Smart phone or cell phone about 34 time a day.) Wow! Not my thing either. I look at a cell phone once a day and sometimes not at all - yes it is true - not addicted to texting either. Never do it! Not into texting at all. Not into staring at a Smart phone all day like many people, checking this, checking that. Not my thing at all. Don't even own a Smart Phone. What's my point in mentioning all those things? Well... it is because I am a chocoholic, yes, yes, yes!! Chocolate icecream, cake, fudge brownies especially, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate pudding, Hershey bars, yum, yum, yum. :-)))) I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!! Yes, I am being a bit silly here I know. But all you chocoholics will understand. I do otherwise eat healthy foods though. |

Subject: Lyr Add: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES From: Bill D Date: 22 Sep 09 - 04:19 PM No one has posted Bill Steele's?? My... (I think it's in the database, but search isn't working right now...you can find these lyrics several places) Chocolate Chip Cookies^^^ Chorus: Chocolate chip cookies, you gotta have more You can bake 'em in the oven, or buy 'em at the store But whatever you do, have 'em ready at my door And I'll love ya till I die. They're made out of sugar and butter and flour You put 'em in the oven about a quarter hour, But the thing that gives them their magic power Is the chocolate chips inside. You can't eat one, you can't eat two Once you start chewing, there's nothing to do But clean your plate, and eat the crumbs too Then go and find some more. Now when I die, I don't want wings A golden halo or a harp that sings Give me a book, a fire, and someone that brings me Chocolate chip cookies all day. ^^^ |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Howard Kaplan Date: 17 Dec 06 - 11:42 PM I am surprised that no one has mentioned one popularized by The Smothers Brothers many years ago, one which begins with this line: I fell into a vat of chocolate Not surprisingly, I suppose, the various references to that line found by Googling the web disagree about the subsequent lines. However, there's a longer-than-most version as the last posting on this page. The writer of the posting, unable to locate the recording, reconstructed the song from memory, but the level of detail suggests that his memory might be quite accurate. |

Chocolate is grand. Melts in your mouth. Melts in your hand. Chocolate is love. Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Chocolate is hip. Chocolate is now. Beans from Brazil, milk from the cow. Chocolate is love. Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Please don't mention The chemical connection Chocolate makes in my head. It's Swiss Miss I'm drinkin' Eatin' Hershey bars and thinkin' If I can't be in love, I'll have a truffle instead. Cocoa is warm. Fudgsicles chill. Whatever the form, it's always a thrill. Chocolate is love. Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Chocolate is a big part of our lives And we would like to share with you now Our testimonials in hopes that each And every one of you will accept Chocolate into your lives. At night, I dream of hot fudge on ice cream. Snickers are fine, Milk Duds divine. Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Chocolate Chip is a trip. I couldn't survive-a without my Godiva. I eat a Chunky when I feel funky. A tollhouse cookie is better than nookie. N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestlés makes the very best. Chocolate is love. Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Sep 03 - 02:35 AM Er.. Guest - who is to say that the ancient Mayan civilisation weren't right all along? - they worshipped the cacao plant as a god.... I'm happy with that - just because I've pinned my colours to one particular mast, doesn't mean I don't have a healthy respect, a desire to learn and and a hunger for other deities. Besides, doesn't the Lord say 'take and eat....'?! (yes, I know, the Devil quotes scriptures for his own purpose....) LTS who isn't addicted, I can give up any time I want to... Subject: Lyr Add: CHOCOLATE SONG (Marcus Turner) From: Herga Kitty Date: 08 Sep 03 - 06:57 PM "Moira Craig's" Chocolate song was in fact written by Marcus Turner, and there are 2 more verses than Gervase has posted (except that Moira only sings one of them): CHOCOLATE SONG Marcus Turner When you're tired and depressed and feeling lonely When your cheque book's in the red and you are blue When you've left the freezer open or your rubber band has broken Or you've dropped the toilet paper down the loo When you feel a sudden urge to wash the steak knife Or to sniff at the exhaust pipe of your car Or to farewell those you love, and take a nap inside the oven Stop! Salvation's just a suck from where you are. CHORUS: When you're feeling down the best way up is chocolate It's the answer that will get you through the day Let me get my teeth around something small and square and brown And I'll masticate until I feel OK! Now when God had finished making all the heavens And the valleys and the mountains and the seas And the weather and the weevils and the squid and German measles And the gherkins, then cocoa and all the fleas On the seventh day as he was sitting resting He was feeling in a very chipper mood There came one more inspiration, for one last divine creation Something fit to please a God that could be chewed When I see a bar of chocolate lying idle It always seems to find it's way inside my jaws It tastes better in than out, and it's a shame to mess about Cos it's going to a very worthy cause And although it won't endear me to my dentist And my doctor will be worried for my health And it's given me a skinful of enormous oily pimples I'm still feeling very good about myself (Moira doesn't sing next verse:) Just remember if it's chocolate you can eat it Chocolate eggs and chocolate fish and chocolate chips Chocolate cake and mousse and logs Chocolate snails and mice and frogs Let a chocolate form explode across your lips Some is crunchy and is filled with hokey cokey Some is thrown about by cowboys and is white There's a whole world out there waiting, don't just sit there salivating Pull your socks up, chocks away and bite, bite, bite You can never have a bad trip eating chocolate And it's tastier than sex and much more fun Keep your pills and dope and glue, and your gin and whiskey too Cos there's no buzz like a chocolate buzz bar none If you really really love me give me chocolate Give me chocolate till it's coming out my ears All I crave is just enough, so I can intimately* stuff - myself for years and years and years and years and years. * As provided by Malcolm Austen, but as far as I can recall, Moira sings " passionately stuff" Kitty |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Roger the skiffler Date: 07 Jan 00 - 05:28 AM I can live without chocolate in the house but when it's there and opened.... When I was small I remember mixing dry drinking chocolate and sugar on a saucer and eating it with a spoon (well, I was a war baby so probably reacting against rationing!) and I still have no dentures or fillings and only lack one and a half teeth (which I attribute to never going to a dentist!). Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Owlkat Date: 07 Jan 00 - 03:15 AM Hm, I know of a song written by a mandolin player in Vancouver named Zeke Hoskins, with a chorus that goes... "I love chocolate I love you I hope you'll never prove untrue But I'll have chocolate if you do I can count on chocolate"
The name of the album is called something like "Life Is Strange". It was covered by a group in Vancouver,(more folk mafia) called Three Strong Winds. It's in my music collection which I don't have access to, but a mudcatter in Vancouver may be able to track it down. I really should learn it. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Pete Peterson Date: 06 Jan 00 - 05:06 PM There was a thread a couple months ago about Joanne Davis, who wrote two songs about chocolate, of which one (the one I learned first) starts Does the voice of Tom Carvel cause you to pant? Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Willie-O Date: 06 Jan 00 - 03:38 PM The Newfoundland musical-comedians Buddy Whats-His-Name and the Other Fellers have (among other hilarities) a song with the punch line "You need some chocolate, some creamy chocolate..." I don't know where to find the lyrics & music These guys are so goofy in their publicity I always thought they must be incedibly corny...when I finally heard them they turned out to have a repertoire of really funny, genuine rather than tourist-trap Newfoundland humourous dialogues, and rather poignant and well-played trad-style music. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calling all chocoholics... From: Date: 06 Jan 00 - 12:13 PM Wolfgang-I love that-"I don't want chocolate; I'd rather have a man!" It's only partly true-I would say, If I can't have a man, give me some chocolate in consolation. There is a line of Marge Piercy's poetry that combines these loves: "I am chocolate, melting into you". So Liz, how about sharing the wealth? I like dark chocolate far and away the best! Just crank up your modem on high, and send it on through the cables! Better turn the temperature to low, though-melted chocolate makes an awful mess! Mary |

Subject: Lyr Add: ICH WILL KEINE SCHOKOLADE From: Wolfgang Date: 06 Jan 00 - 11:24 AM link to Ich will keine Schokolade, ich will lieber einen Mann (I don't want chocolate I'd rather have a man). Sorry, I don't know whether there's an English version of that "beautie". Ich will keine Schokolade... (Schlager von Trude Herr, 1959) The link cited above, so I copy-pasted the lyrics from www.findlyrics.com. |
