Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Denmark's Girls by Nick Keir From: cnd Date: 14 Aug 23 - 11:07 AM Here's how I hear it. Transcribed from here. DENMARK'S GIRLS Denmark's girls will steal your heart They'll catch your eye right from the start Take your hand, say something smart Turn and walk away Denmark's girls are at their ease Come and go just as they please Leave you shaking at the knees CHORUS Denmark's girls are sitting in their sun-lit square Where they flash their eyes and they comb their hair and Pretend that they don't know you're there Denmark's girls Islands girls are softly spoken Scotland's girls, they love to joke, and Those girls are frantic like chasing smoke To warm the winter long Denmark's girls are not so shy Look you squarely in the eye Stay a while then say goodbye CHORUS Denmark's song's a sun-lit home A young girl sings though she's all alone A song it seems she's always known Denmark's song And while at last the song is done She steps outside to greet the sun and Now the morning has begun Denmark's song Denmark's girls will steal your heart They'll catch your eye right from the start Take your hand, say something smart And turn and walk away |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Denmark's Girls by Nick Keir From: Tattie Bogle Date: 13 Aug 23 - 05:05 PM Nick spent quite a lot of time in Denmark, I believe. He was involved in something called the Tolkien Project while there. A Danish violinist that he had worked with on this played the most sublime version of Niel Gow’s “Lament for the Death of his Second Wife” that I have ever ever heard at Nick’s funeral. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Denmark's Girls by Nick Keir From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Aug 23 - 02:40 PM I seem to remember that two of the Mac's are married to Danish ladies which may account for the title. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Denmark's Girls by Nick Keir From: Tattie Bogle Date: 11 Aug 23 - 07:47 PM It’s on one of his CDs, Fishing up the Moon. The title is singular, Denmark’s Girl. Sorry I don’t have the lyrics and it’s not on the McCalmans’ website which does have some of his other lyrics. |
