Subject: RE: Lyr Req: folk song: Let Me In From: the lemonade lady Date: 25 Jun 24 - 02:43 AM It rains, it hails, it snows, it blows, And I am wet thru all me clothes, So I pray thee love let me in, I pray thee love let me in. To let you in, that cannot be, There's no one in this house but me, So I dare not let you in, So I dare not let you in. Me Ma & Pa....etc He turned around... Etc They spent that night in sweet content And the very next morning to church they went, And he made her his charming bride, He made her his charming bride. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: folk song: Let Me In From: Reinhard Date: 24 Jun 24 - 02:07 PM Rond 608, Forty Miles / The Cottage in the Wood / It Hails, It Rains e.g. sung by Frank Hinchliffe as IT RAINS, IT HAILS It hails, it rains, it snows and blows, And I am wet through all me clothes. So I pray thee love, let me in, So I pray thee love let me in. To let you in, that cannot be, There’s no-one in this house but me. So I dare not let you in, So I dare not let you in. Me dad and mam, they’re fast asleep, Me brother is up, but he’s with the sheep. So I dare not let thee in, So I dare not let thee in. He turned him round, and whether to go, When sweet affections she did show. Oh come, and I’ll let you in, Oh come, and I’ll let you in. They spent that night in sweet content, And the very next morning to church they went. And he made her his charming bride, And he made her his charming bride. |
Subject: Lyr Req: folk song: Let Me In From: the lemonade lady Date: 24 Jun 24 - 12:41 PM I'm trying to remember a song I used to sing called 'Let Me In'. It's about a young man who arrives at his girlfriend's door, soaking wet, and she won't let him in. Some lyrics I can remember are: Me Ma and Pa are fast asleep Me brother is up, but he's with the sheep So I can not let you in, No I can not let you in. He turned around, away for to go but sweet affection she did show... it ends up with him staying the night, and in the morning they went to church and he made her his bride. Ring any bells? I think it's Cornish sally (The retired Lemonaade Lady) |
