Subject: RE: Who wrote Mystery Train From: Stewie Date: 11 Mar 01 - 09:13 PM Hi Tomas, The Sun blues box set was issued by Charly Records, a UK label. I understood that Charly went bust quite some time ago after losing a legal battle with MCA over the use of the Chess catalogue. However, CDNow seem to have some Charly CDs, but not the Sun blues set - I don't know whether it ever made it to CD. CD now have lots of Junior Parker CDs. Go to their site and put 'Junior Parker' in the artist search box. --Stewie.

Subject: RE: Who wrote Mystery Train From: Tomas Date: 11 Mar 01 - 08:37 PM I want to obtain some of Junior Parkers music so my band can learn it and play it. Is anybody else out there doing tributes to Junior Parker? I just read about the "sun blues years" box set? Love to have that. Where can I get it? If you reply to this, does it come to my email, or do I need to enter the site and log on to chat or something to read it? Brand new to site-haven't read much yet. Help? |

Subject: RE: Who wrote Mystery Train From: Stewie Date: 04 Mar 00 - 06:44 PM According to Hank Davis and Colin Escott in their notes to the Sun Blues Years box set, when it first appeared, 'Mystery Train was credited solely to Junior Parker and published by Memphis Music. By the time Elvis Presley recorded his version in 1955, Sam Phillips had added his name to the copyright and the publishing had been tranferred to Phillips' Hi Lo Music. They suggest this was possibly in part settlement of Junior Parker's contract dispute. --Stewie. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: MISTERY TRAIN From: jofield Date: 01 Feb 00 - 01:10 PM I remember the early Elvis version very well, and each third line had a negative connotation: 1) Well, that long black train took my baby and gone. 2) Well, you took my baby, but you never will again. 3) Well, you took my baby, but she's mine all mine.
