Yes that's the one!! I have only heard Christy Moore doing it. And I do have Cakewalk, so zap it over on that. I got the programme as a present by the way, and actually find it quite complicated to use. Alot of the stuff I don't understand!!!!!! However, if the score comes up there, I can print it out too. Yes, that's the one. I've only heard Christy's version. Marvelous song. Lovely, playful tune. Wouldn't mind a MIDI of that myself. (I can pull it into Noteworthy, which I recommend for anyone who can't afford (or hasn't afforded) Cakewalk.)

I'm on a "Reel in the Flickering Light" kick lately myself, so far as Christy songs go....

Brigid, don't know Brandan's voyage as a Chrsity Moore song - does it have "Is it right or left for Gibralta... " in the chorus. If it is that one, I have a recording by a band called Raglan Four and it should be easy to put into MIDI. Also, did you say in one of these threads you have Cakewalk? - would save me having to make the MIDI into a .gif (and I can provide a .wrk file as well - CakeWalk is what I use).

We didn't actually "find" the music to "Joxer" anywhere. I sent Jon an actual recording of Christy singing the song, and he transcribed it onto a musical score himself. That wasn't some sheet music from somewhere in that .GIF linked above; it's Jon's own transcription. I had to hunt quite a bit to find the recording, but Jon did the real work. Takes me forever to do that sort of transcription, anyway.

I'm glad I got to hear it too. Jack Charton played football for England and was part of the victorious 1966 World Cup Squad. He later went on to become manager of Ireland - the song say's the rest...

There's a brilliant song going the rounds in Dublin these days about three soccer fans on the tear in Amsterdam. It's to the tune of "The crack was ninety..". When I manage to get a set together, I'll post it here.

Thanks for posting this guys its one of the few folk songs I know about football. I remember the game very well. We were watching it in the pub. When Ray Houghton got the ball you could have heard a pin drop. The expressions on the faces were priceless. Everything came to a complete standstill time was suspended and when he stuck the ball in the net the place erupted. You couldn't hear yourself think. Total strangers were hugging each other. The party went on into the wee hours, what a night, thanks for the memory again Den.
