Subject: RE: playing in Amsterdam From: Eric the Viking Date: 12 Sep 00 - 04:33 PM No they don't! The cyclists shout "Let oop", means let me through or something like that. They and the Dutch are so used to each other that they just twist and dodge-it's foreigners like us that are not used to so many bikes that cause the problem (especially the English when we ride on the wrong side of the cycle paths) Yo, The sidewalk is often for cyclists! You have to find the bits for pedestrians as there are cycle lanes and paths everywhere. Even after lots of cycling in Holland you still find yourself walking in the cycle paths. I have Dutch friends if you want I'll ask them what they know about busking etc. You could do well in Leiden-it's a university town and even has some "Irish pubs". Cheers. Eric (Let oop) |

Subject: RE: playing in Amsterdam From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 12 Sep 00 - 12:04 PM I don't know anytbing about pubs, but listen, I was there recently, and I have an important safety tip for you. Watch out for those stupid bicyclists! They come up silently at 10-15 miles per hour and damn near run you down with no warning. They ought to have a law that the bicycles should have a playing card clipped on with a clothespin so it makes a sound. |
