Most of my Wukintun mates would disagree with you Pete.
Bye bye. And the best of luck in Yorkshire!!

just changed my name again - i really want nothing much to do with workington - especially since the 'workington man' in the media is our new ex-ukip, far right, thug, tory mp.

cheers both. (maybe see you in the sound bar, dave, one day. i have 3 friends in skipton - all called Dave (Jap Dave (who lives in chichibu and by the shepherd), council Dave, and Microwave Dave (who owns Brophy's)

anyway, i'm currently listening to radio scotland as usual - and tuesday night is the best - highly recommended - Ricky Ross - Another Country followed by Roddy Hart. I'm sure I won't be able to get Radio Scotland down south in Hebden (or france Radio Fip) and i'll be trying to go off line for a while. So - what are the best radio shows to listen out for on FM in that part of Yorkshire. Bit of folk? americana?alternative country? world music? fans' football?

Ripponden is only a few miles away - home to Pete Coe & Co. They run a folk club, sessions, ceilidhs, dance workshops etc.

Check out the Ryburn 3 Step website.

We are not a million miles away Pete. 30 minute-ish drive. If you ever visit Skipton you are welcome to B&B at Gnome towers :-)

funnily enough we may well move to scotland eventually - we have a very old relative in easy distance of hebden so should be there for a while. if it's great then glasgow may need to wait. while it isn't an issue at the moment - soon i hope to be making my usual regular trips to see partick thistle.....i've yet to work out the details but it isn't possible to take a canal boat to the canal that runs by firhill. i should have checked that first really!

There is (in normal times) a session on Monday nights at the pub at the bottom of the road up to Heptonstall. The excellent fiddler/piper Paul Roberts goes to it. Not sure if it's every Monday. I haven't managed it yet.

If Hebden Bridge would like to move to Scotland it would be welcome.

In normal times there is the Pannards (mainly French) tune and dance sessions on one Saturday each month. At the moment this has turned into a more frequent zoom session.

we have bought a wee property at hebden bridge - with the idea of maybe moving there when we can sell our house in cumbria. does anyone know what it is like there these days - it seems like a good place as they recover from a flood and from covid. has it still got the positive atmosphere it had when named 'the best to live in the uk ' a couple of years back? any information on music, cultures and political activism in the area would be very interesting - thanks

The "Trades club" has a variety of artists at different times. Some good folkies have been on there. Cheers. Eric

There's a very nice mill there, if you are into morris dancing - that's where a lot of teams get their britches from, they do a great line in britches....

All I know is there is a sing around in a club once a month will try to find out more for you. There is also a bluegrass group who are very good I sat in with them at Holmefirth Fes. there is a little club at Midge Hole with the cheapest prices I have had the good luck to drop on, and there is great walking ground up in the Crags Wullie
