The Highwayman as I first learned it, is even more abridged then McKennitt's version, but I like the tune a whole lot more. it was used as the theme song for a movie late 50's I think.

Serendipity, opening this thread out of curiosity. I had long forgotten the poem, once learned in ages past.

Alex,

There are literally thousands of sites with 'Celtic' lyrics.

If you could ask a more specific question, many people would be happy to help.

Ed

I went to the site of The Hiwayman by Alfred Noyes. I knew the song was from a poem but didn't know who wrote it. Thanks for the URL. Thank you ED for the information. Nice to know people are willing to help.

Sorry, Ed. Actually I was ashamed of myself for taking 16 minutes since the question was first posted. I had the whole thing ready to go and then clicked "Clear Entries" instead of "Submit Message" and had to start all over again!

As it turns out, The Highwayman as McKennit sings it is an abridgement of a much longer poem by Alfred Noyes, clicky

After seeing Slim Dusty at the closing of the Olympics I can't get Waltzing Matilda out of my mind. I remember singing it when I was in grade school in the 50's. I just can't remember all the words. Also I listen to Celtic music on www.radiofreecash.com all the time. There is song called the Hiwayman by Loreena McKennit. I would like to find the lyrics to it as well. Can anyone help?

Hi all, This should be an easy one. I need the lyrics to Waltzing Mathilda. I can't get back onto the Web for a while, so if someone could e-mail me those lyrics, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks
