Subject: RE: ominous song From: Stewie Date: 16 Oct 00 - 06:38 PM Have a listen to David Olney's original version, the title track of his 1988 Philo album. Reissued by Rounder on CD in 1991 (CD PH 1117). It has some tasty fiddle backing by Mark O'Connor. Beaut album that also has Olney's lovely 'Women Across the River'. --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: ominous song From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Oct 00 - 09:50 AM Great as Daniel Lanois is, at times I find his influence tends to overproduce the album. I love Emmylou and I heard her do "Deeper Well" at a Lilith Fair concert and felt it was much better live. He appeared with her on a "Sessions at W. 54th" on PBS and was thoroughly enjoyable, but what comes out on the albums seems like too much screwing around with a good thing. Just my opinion. Spaw |

Subject: RE: ominous song From: rangeroger Date: 16 Oct 00 - 01:43 AM The song is "Deeper Well". Written by David Olney,Daniel Lanois, and Emmylou. She des it on the "Wrecking Ball" CD and I think it's on "Spyboy" also. Great song. rr |
Subject: ominous song From: GUEST,sam Date: 15 Oct 00 - 11:54 PM Saw Emmylou Harris tonight; an eclectic, beautiful show. She started out a bit tired, but seemed to draw energy from the crowd. Her band was outstanding. Anyhow, she did this song I've heard a few times but cannot locate. A real moody and threatening blues/ rocker with the refrain "water from the deep blue well." Help? |
