TIPPY TOEING
Recorded by The Harden Trio (Arleen, Bobby and Robbie)
Words and music by Bobby Harden

M: Well, [F] mama go a-tippy, tippy-[Bb] toein' through the house.
M: Gotta [F] see what's the matter with the [C7] baby.
M: It's been a-[F] bawlin' and a-squawlin' and a-[Bb] kickin' on the wall.
M: I [C7] guess it dropped its little bottle, [F] maybe.

D: Oh! Daddy come a-runnin' with the [Bb] water and a rag.
D: Gonna [F] need another little diaper, [C7] maybe.
M: No [F] need o' hesitatin' or a-[Bb] wond'rin and a-waitin'.
M: I [C7] know what's the matter with the [F] baby.

T: No need o' hesitatin' or a-[Bb] wond'rin and a-waitin'.
T: We [C7] know what's the matter with the [F] baby.

T: Oh! Mama rock-a baby. Daddy [Bb] rock-a baby, too.
T: It's a-[F] yawnin' and a-gettin' sleepy, [C7] maybe.
T: So, [F] mama keep a-rockin'. Daddy [Bb] rock a little, too,
T: And at [C7] last it's a sleepy, little [F] baby.

M: Well, mama tippy-toein'. Daddy [Bb] tippy-toein' too.
M: Gonna [F] try to do a little sleepin', [C7] maybe.
M: Whether [F] it'll be a minute or an [Bb] hour or two
M: Is de-[C7] pending entirely on the [F] baby.

D: Well, I hear the clock a-ringin', just a-[Bb] dongin' and a-dingin'.
D: Daddy [F] go and make a little money, [C7] maybe.
M: Mama [F] sleep a little longer, but re-[Bb] member while I'm gone,
M: Won't you [C7] please take care of the [F] baby.
T: After [C7] all, it's just a little, bitty [F] baby.

T: Oh! Mama rock-a baby. Daddy [Bb] rock-a baby too.
T: It's a-[F] yawnin' and a-gettin' sleepy, [C7] maybe.
T: Well, [F] mama keep a-rockin'. Daddy [Bb] rock a little, too,
T: And at [C7] last it's a sleepy, little [F] baby.

T: And at [C7] last it's a sleepy, little [F] baby, (Fade)
T: And at [C7] last it's a sleepy, little [F] baby.

M=Male; D=Duet; T=Trio.

Hmm...Poppy family featuring Susan Jacks, as well as Terry Jacks, he of the over-tremeloed guitar on the hit version of "Seasons in the Sun"?

In 1966 I spent the summer in New York City with my aunt. There was a song on the radio that went something like: "Daddy come a tippy tippy toeing though the house, gonna see what's the matter with the baby. He's been a screaming and a bawling and a kicking on the wall . . .needs a little ... maybe." I've never seen it or heard it since. Anyone know it?
