Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 03 May 01 - 05:07 PM Started a new thread so here it isYORKSHIRE ALMOST THERE |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Jock Morris Date: 03 May 01 - 04:57 PM Sorry, haven't been keeping up with the thread:-( Nutty: I do have a beard and the beer belly is coming along nicely, hic! Geoff: I dance with Jenny Geddes Clog Morris, a NorthWest side based in Edinburgh. Scott |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 03 May 01 - 04:57 PM Not sure about that, Les. I thought I had had Jamesons there but could be wrong. I'll check next time I'm there. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Les from Hull Date: 03 May 01 - 12:04 PM I've just realised that if £5 is too much for a barbequed head, kids will be much cheaper. Mind you, I'm not sure that I can eat a full one! What I actually wanted, though, was some confirmation that Syd might have an Irish Whiskey in. I seem to remember that he doesn't usually, although, of course, I could be wrong. So many pubs, so many pubs... Les |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Tig Date: 03 May 01 - 12:04 PM Syd's told Sue that he will take all the brew but even though he's used to Mudcats he was being very dubious about the fact we could get through 5 barrels. The Badger did some sums and worked out it was only about 18 pints each for the weekend. Don't forget to bring some sort of a container as a 'carry out' so you can take some to the ceilidh! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: John J Date: 03 May 01 - 11:44 AM Well with 80 gallons I'm ok, but what are the rest of you going to drink? John |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 03 May 01 - 10:41 AM Just to let you all know the beer is brewed and waiting. About 80 gallons I think!!So what we do on Saturday I don't know!!!!!!:-) |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: lady penelope Date: 03 May 01 - 03:19 AM Marvellous! We should have thought of penning Micca in years ago. then maybe we get thosee hip flasks off him before ruins any more innocent lives / livers. Breakfast sounds heavenly, put me down for two please. TTFN M'Lady P. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Noreen Date: 02 May 01 - 08:43 PM ALL of them, Geoff?? (Does Jane know?) |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Geoff the Duck Date: 02 May 01 - 08:36 PM Yes Micca, you certainly do! Geordie - he put the gate in the fence, a useful location, I think! The answer to ALL Noreen's other questions was YES! Geoff the Duck! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Micca Date: 02 May 01 - 08:19 PM Noreen, I resemble that remark... |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: John Routledge Date: 02 May 01 - 08:14 PM We should be told - Which*BG* |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 02 May 01 - 08:12 PM Yes! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Noreen Date: 02 May 01 - 08:07 PM Your fingers have been drinking, Mrs Duck.... :0) Where did Syd move the gate to, and why? Do we want it? Is it to pen micca in when he's had too much cider? Or to make Eric feel at home? :0) Noreen |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 02 May 01 - 07:51 PM Syd even moved then gate just for us isn't that kind!! Better drink an extra pint or two of his beer to compensate for his effortsw. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 02 May 01 - 07:44 PM Now look, who's in charge? If I say you're decorative3 you'd better be pretty!!! Jane (j8ust returned from the Jug full of something very good at 5.2%!1) |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Tyke Date: 02 May 01 - 03:02 PM True True True Les :-) |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Les from Hull Date: 02 May 01 - 08:37 AM Yummie. Barbequed heads £5 each. What are we doing with the rest of the meat? But I'm not going on the top of the cake. I might be versatile but I'm not decorative. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Lanfranc Date: 02 May 01 - 05:46 AM Refresh the parts other threads cannot reach. Construe as you will! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Morticia Date: 01 May 01 - 06:26 PM I find a cooked breakfast essential to sop up all the alcohol from the night before so we can start again.....deep joy!! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 01 May 01 - 06:19 PM Sounds pretty good to me we could always put Les on top as the decoration! BTW I have let Val know that people are generally interested in the idea of cooked breakfasts but haven't actually given her names and numbers but there will be plenty for any that want. Other meals will also be available and we still plan to have a barbeque on Saturday evening which Val and Syd are organising so no need to bring anything for that. It will be about £5 per head to include all meat salads bread etc. (less for kids but haven't got final figures worked out with Val yet) If the weather should prove unkind there will be a marquee so we can keep dry! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Les from Hull Date: 01 May 01 - 05:23 PM That's not true about your cooking, Ickle! Any way I'd make a great raffle prize. I'm very versatile! And chocolate madeira sponge fruit cake sounds great to me, Sue! Les |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: GUEST,Sue vG Date: 01 May 01 - 05:01 PM I'll bring a cake to raffle. Any suggestions as to type? Eg. chocolate, madeira, sponge, fruit etc, etc! All reasonable requests considered! Sue |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Linda Kelly Date: 01 May 01 - 04:42 PM I am sure we shall partake of the breakfasts as john seeks every opportunity to avoid my cooking. John has also suggested we raffle Les , but I thought I'd bring a bottle as an alternative. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Geoff the Duck Date: 01 May 01 - 10:21 AM Jock. Just for the record, who do you dance with, and which variety? Quack! |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Jock Morris Date: 30 Apr 01 - 06:39 PM Sorry, I'd have loved to have come down for it, but I'm busy that weekend:-( If things go to plan I should be in Ripon the following weekend dancing the Morris. Anyone around that area that weekend look out for a man in blue knee breeches, red stockings, white shirt and a bowler hat! Scott |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Micca Date: 30 Apr 01 - 06:32 PM Jane ,put me down for Breakfast too, both mornings, I am thinking about hip flasks...and Cider, and singing..... |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 27 Apr 01 - 01:39 PM Can probably squeeze in another van OK. There has been a suggestion of the Jug doing cooked breakfasts (at a time to suit!) at £2.50 for the works. As this is not their usual fayre could people let me know if they might be interested (Not binding) so Val can shop for bacon eggs etc. Thanks Jane |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Sue vG Date: 26 Apr 01 - 06:27 PM We've told a couple of friends about the weekend - they said camping with a load of folkies sounds like really good fun, when we added it was in a pub they begged for details, so can you add another couple of people to the numbers please! Would there be a problem if they wanted to bring a caravan? - if there is, they could bring tents instead. Sue |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 23 Apr 01 - 04:45 PM This really is going to be some 'DO' If everyone that says they are does come we should have over fifty Mudcatters and partners. Althought the Jug is not a big pub we will have full use of both bars and the dining room and the marquee in the beer garden so there will be plenty of places to go to sing or play . There will be an elastic programme for the weekend but at the end of the day it will be what YOU make it (yes you with the beard! and you with the fancy trousers!)There will be music sessions, there will be singarounds, and everything inbetween including belly dancing, the custard workshop and other things we will make up just for the hell of it! So if you haven't already decided to come decide NOW! THanks Jane |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: KingBrilliant Date: 17 Apr 01 - 10:10 AM Hi all. I'm negotiating with King as to whether we can come or not. He is warming to the idea (it takes a while to trickle the idea into his head.....). Will let you know for sure as soon as I know. - But things are looking hopeful as King remarked the other day that Hammerite had better get practicing harder on the uke banjo that Bill procured for her after Llanstock.... It would be lovely to see everyone - so I'm X-ing my fingers hard. We'd be camping, so we need a space if possible. I'm afraid its a big bell tent, so we'd need an area of about 13 foot diameter - but if no space then we'll improvise. Kris |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: JeZeBeL Date: 16 Apr 01 - 03:39 PM I'll volunteer, If I'm still standing that is!! :) Emma xxx |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 16 Apr 01 - 02:18 PM Glad to hear it Emma. I was a little unsure Morty - should we need to drink several barrels of cider now we've seen Micca to get over the shock!!!!:) Just over four weeks to go everyone! Please can I have volunteers to clear up the hall after the ceilidh. If we all get involved it shouldn't take very long at all. Thanks Jane |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: JeZeBeL Date: 16 Apr 01 - 02:12 PM Jane, I think Syd should order SEVERAL more barrels of beer and cider for the weekend as I will be camping(so please save me a space) and will not have to drive home every night. I'll have about 5 months drinking to catch up on in the space of a weekend, you can all help me of course, but I do like a lot of cider, n I'm one hell of a drinker when I get going!! ;) Emma xx P.S - Mrs.Duck I have pmd u about the beer shortage. It's all in hand |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Linda Kelly Date: 16 Apr 01 - 08:48 AM As we speak there are loud knocking noises coming from the garage. It is my husband john, feverishly working away, as he has done for the passed 24 hours, fitting a back seat/bed to the VW Devon 1972. Oh, it is with gladness that I realise that that length of chain and the handcuffs have finally come in useful. Another 6 hours and I will pass him his second bowl of gruel and maybe the odd chewed bone that the dog has finished with. Damn! the knocking has stopped, I must go now, baseball bat in hand, to make sure he continues with the good work! (Actually, I am posting this thread to let Les know that we should be ok to give him a lift as we now have the means!!! |

Hope to see you all there.... Spot. |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Morticia Date: 15 Apr 01 - 06:15 PM well, now you've seen Micca first hand ( so to speak) I would recommend several barrels of cider.... |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 15 Apr 01 - 05:53 PM Anyone reading the thread about lack of beer at the Jug should be assured this is a very temporary state and there will be no shortage for the gathering in fact Syd will have several barrels ready just in case we get some heavy drinkers in. Perhaps we should order a few more just in case!!!Not that I'm casting any nasturtiums... |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Geoff the Duck Date: 15 Apr 01 - 05:18 PM For anyone who, like Nick Scaife, is not aware - an explanation. Last year some Mudcatters who live in th UK decided that instead of being anonymous typings on a computer screen, they would like to join the pseudonyms up to some real faces, so it was suggested that someone should oprganise a get-together. Llanfair finally drew the short straw and organised a Mudcat get together in Wales, which has since been referred to as Llanstock. It was very successful, so in November there was another gathering at Swinton, Manchester. At this Jane (Mrs.Duck) suggested that we should orghanise a gathering in Yorkshire, based at the Jug Inn, Chapel Haddlesey, (near Selby). Both Jane and myself have hosted weekends to celebrate birthdays and knew how well Syd treats "folky" people. There are a lot of mudcatters who live close to the Jug or visit regularly, so we discussed suitabe dates and came up with this particular weekend. There is space on the beer garden for tents and caravans and also b&b within a reasonable distance. We would appreciate an idea of numbers who are intending to come along so that field space can be allocated. Quack GtD |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Noreen Date: 12 Apr 01 - 02:00 PM Lovely to visit the famous Jug, meet some new Mudcat friends and catch up with old friends (some older than others). Sorry for lack of advance warning- spur of the moment decision- well worth the trip! Real purpose of visit (to check out the beer for prospective Gatherers) accomplished. Result... pretty good, but further sampling required. Noreen |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: GUEST,JeZeBeL Date: 12 Apr 01 - 01:44 PM It was a good night. I agree, but I think we could have done with a few more tunes....... I brought my friend down and he thinks all us mudcatters are very wierd!! Don't know where he gets that idea from.......... |

Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Tig Date: 12 Apr 01 - 11:57 AM It was a great night meeting old friends I didn't know I had. Luckily (or unluckily depending on your view) it isn't full moon on the nights of the Yorkshire Gathering so no werewolves will be involved! |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: bill\sables Date: 12 Apr 01 - 08:54 AM Great surprise in the Jug last night. We were playing away merrily when who should walk in but Noreen and Micca all the way from Manchester and London. They were, of course, cornered by Mouldy, Jezabel, Tig, Badger, Geoff the Duck, and Mrs Duck and Selby and unusual for the Jug the night ended around 1-00am with songs instead of tunes. They have assured us that they will be attending the Gathering next month. Bill |
Subject: RE: YORKSHIRE GATHERING II From: Mrs.Duck Date: 12 Apr 01 - 08:49 AM Noreen and Micca called accross last night for a bit of a preview. We left them at around 12.30 and I wouldn't want to be in Micca's head after the cider he was drinking!!! |
