Subject: RE: need help with upbeat songs From: GUEST,outlawsinger Date: 22 Jun 01 - 12:11 PM Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll have to check out all those websites. Yikes! There is a lot of information. I'll look into the specific songs mentioned. Some I'm familiar with but many I've not heard or heard of. Clinton, I agree with you about balls to the wall being attitude and not tempo. It is amazing how a song can be altered by the beat that's behind it or or by the general arrangement. It's fun thinking about new approaches to the old songs. Bert, do you have a recording of your songs? A quick look has me curious about Plastic Flower Seeds and Stars and Snowflakes. I'll have to come back for a longer look later. I knew I was reading too fast when reading That's When I Fell in Love, I thought he sat on her hair. I should think that would make a woman cross, too. Thanks again, all. Keep the suggestions coming. ~Outlaw |

Subject: RE: need help with upbeat songs From: katlaughing Date: 21 Jun 01 - 05:23 PM Welcome to the Mudcat. If you go to the DigiTrad Lyrics Search box and enter the word "celtic" then hi GO, you will find all kinds of songs, some of which may be the type you are looking for. Also, look for a recent thread about Barry Taylor's website, just enter his name in the thread search box at the top, set the age filter back a few days and hit Enter. It should come up, follow it to the Contemplator site and you'll find all kinds. Additionally, click on the LINKS at the top of the page and look over all of the sites. There are lots of them. I am sure others will be along soon to give you some more specifics. All the best, kat |
Subject: RE: need help with upbeat songs From: GUEST,outlawsinger Date: 21 Jun 01 - 05:04 PM My band is in serious need of some great uptempo (balls to the wall) songs. We sing mostly in the Celtic tradition, mostly traditional but some newly composed stuff. We're not interested in the really well known songs or anything that has recently come out on CD. We already do a number of ballads and would like to round out our repertoire with songs other than ballads. We just need some good kickass kind of songs that'll keep the audience around for our slow, sad songs that we really love to sing. All suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks. ~Outlaw |
