Egads! Thanks, Chanteyranger. Yes, Sunday night is correct. The Tuesday night session at the Plough & Stars, however, is correct.

Just chalk it up to another senior moment for Radriano. I am also besmitten, though, which might have had something to do with it too.

Starry Plough....Plough and Stars...that reminds me of the old Peter Cook/Dudley Moore routine about the restaurant called "The Frog and Peach." Seems it was started by a man who suddenly realized that "there was no place in town where you could get both a really good frog, and a really good peach." It served two main dishes: Frog a la Peche, which was a large frog, baked, with a peach in its mouth; and Peche a la Frog, which was a very large peach stuffed with dozens of tiny frogs.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread...

Aloha,
Mark

Radriano, Starry Plough in the East Bay and weekend Plough and Stars sessions are SUNDAY nights. I know you know that, so I'll just chalk it up to a momentary lapse in your otherwise horrible judgement. *BG*

As usual I'm a bit late. I'm in San Francisco.

Technically speaking the Bay Area is the nine counties surrounding San Francisco Bay. Sacramento, however, because it has a number of good musicians living there, is an honorary member of the Bay Area.

There are lots of Irish sessions around here. Many of them are around for a while and then die a natural death. The two ongoing mainstream Irish sessions are the Starry Plough in the East Bay and The Plough & Stars in San Francisco, both of which meet Saturday evenings. The Plough and Stars also has a smaller Tuesday evening session.

Annamill...may be a rock term, but the Bluegrass folks I know still refer to them as jams. Of course...some of us grew up on Acid Rock, Hendrix, and Joplin...

I'm almost as far as Celtic Soul is, but meeting halfway would be a little more problematic. Mi mar es su mar...

Goody, that group has gotten together on several occasions and the "Starry Plough" is always a good place to find them. That's a pretty big group of 'Catters, not as big as DC or Toronto, but pretty good sized and very active. Dave Swan is one of the three guys comprising "Oak, Ash, and Thorn" and pj, his wife Pam, is simply an unbelievable musician and singer. Chanteyranger organizes a lot of stuff and the whole group listed are all very talented folks and pretty long term 'Catters.

Oh yeah, you got plenty>/I> of company in the Bay area!!!

Spaw

I believe we have the makings of a jam. We just need to decide where and when.

Sessions at the Starry Plough every Sunday, 8pm to past midnight. Shay Black hosts them, but he's away for awhile, maybe a month. Fiddler Brian Theriault hosts them in his place. The pub is in Berkeley, but just a couple of blocks from the Oakland border, at the corner of Shattuck and Prince.

Mudcatter Elise is, I believe, back in the bay area after some time in Southern Calif.Sacramento is not in the bay area, but hell, Joe's an honorary bay area man :-).

Hey, Bat Goddess, I know Tommy. Great guy! Small world. All in all, counting Goody, 12 bay area Mudcatters. I've got to work on Tommy Carns to make it a baker's dozen.

What Bay, sugar?

Chesapeake? I'm driving distance. I suppose though you mean the one in Northern California. That's driving distance too, if I want to drive for a few days ;D

Singer Barbara Carns' son Tommy Carns, who does a variety of styles, leads an Irish session in Oakland, I believe, but I don't know what night or where. I think he does either 2 different style sessions or a session and an open mic. I'd have to ask Barbara and she's not on-line.

Sacramento will do just fine -- close enough for government work.

I was beginning to think I was all alone out here.

Is Sacramento close enough to be considered the Bay Area? I was living in Woodland and Vacaville..until this past year. That was a little closer.

Yeah, yeah -- probably an old thread somewhere. I'm curious, though, as to how many of us live in the Bay Area.
