Subject: Lyr Add: NO SMOKING, PLEASE! From: GUEST,A different one Date: 14 Jan 02 - 10:23 AM NO SMOKING, PLEASE!
One of my bygone recollections
'Twas a place to sit and ponder
Ours was a three-holer
You had to make these frequent trips
Oft times in dead of winter
With a swish you'd clear the seat
I recall the day Granddad
'Twas the same day my dad
He tossed the rags in the shanty hole
Now Granddad had an urgent call
He sat down on the shanty seat
After the tobacco began to glow
The blast that followed, I am sure,
The smoldering pipe was still in his mouth.
When we asked him what had happened.
Next day we had a new one
Now that's the end of the story [found online] |

Subject: Poem about giving up smoking From: Chris Amos Date: 13 Jan 02 - 11:34 AM Hi,
I read the thread about the price of cigarettes with the self-satisfied glow that someone who has given up for 4 years can feel. I was reminded of a poem I heard on the radio when I was giving up, I believe it was written by the English comic actor It starts off... MY WORD I DO FEEL HEALTHY ....and goes on to describe all the agonies of giving up the dreaded weed in a very amusing way. I would like to show this to Angela who is going through the process at present but I have been unable to find it anywhere. If anyone has the words or could point me in the right direction I would be grateful. Best regards Chris |
