Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: tom a. Date: 08 Apr 98 - 03:15 PM finally, a place where I can talk to other blues fanatics yee-ha |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Marc B Date: 08 Apr 98 - 03:12 PM More boring, redundant, but enthusiastic and deeply hearfelt kind words, huzzah's, etc. to all who started this site and keep it going. The discovery of same has added a wonderful element to the folkie part of my life. Marc B |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Max Date: 07 Apr 98 - 03:14 PM mudcat.org is our official url, so that's the way to go. Thanks for all the kind words folks. |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Susan from California Date: 07 Apr 98 - 11:44 AM I'm getting ready to have my 16 year-old son make me a home page, what should I have him use for a mudcat link, the mudcat.org? I want to add my cheers, too. This is one of the few places that I consistently lurk. I've learned a ton. Thanks. |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: McGrath Date: 04 Apr 98 - 06:49 PM Yes Max, The speed increase is noticable. But for some reason it seems faster when using AOL rather than Netscape. It may be my machine and the way caching is set up for the different browzers. But I'll experiment with searches using AOL, Navigator and Explorer and see what difference, if any I see. |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Max Date: 04 Apr 98 - 06:14 PM Oh, if you get an error on the 207.44.42.20, go to http://207.44.42.20/login.cfm to reset your cookie, then everything will work. Sometimes links and such will throw you back to mudcat.org which sends you back down the old pipe. |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Max Date: 04 Apr 98 - 05:58 PM Hi guys. Got the T1 up today. The name mudcat.org will take a day or three to switch over, but if in your URL you replace www.mudcat.org with 207.44.42.20 you will be hitting the site down the new, much larger pipe. Please try it and let me know if you get through and if it is faster. On paper it is more than 10x faster, but we are working out bugs all weekend. Let me know... in this thread will be good. |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Baz Date: 04 Apr 98 - 05:48 PM The only complaint Iv'e got is that three cheers aint enough. Well done to all of you! And thanks Frank for leading the cheers. Regards Baz |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Moira Cameron Date: 04 Apr 98 - 05:46 PM It's hard to imagine what my life was like before Mudcat. It is a special treat to me, since I live so far away from anyone in the folk music business. Massi Cho! (Dene Indian--meaning 'big thanks!'--from Yellowknife, NT., Canada) |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Alice Date: 04 Apr 98 - 05:02 PM Glory be to all of you who started this and keep it going. alice in montana |
Subject: RE: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Apr 98 - 04:58 PM Well, here is the official history of the Digital Tradition, as recorded by the inimitable Dick Greenhaus. I added a little gratuitous violence and sex to the history I gave Frank by e-mail. Gotta make it a bit more interesting for the newcomers, ya know... -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Three Cheers to Mudcat From: Frank McGrath Date: 04 Apr 98 - 04:49 PM Joe Offer just gave me the brief history of Mudcat Cafe and the Digital Tradition. We are all interested in the having the living folk
So, I would just like to say THREE CHEERS to;

I hope that others will join in and give a resounding cheer.
