In Dubin, Hughes' (Chancery Street) is always the place to start - and finish, as often as not!

Regards

My pleasure. The suggestion of Irish Music mag is good too.

Although, I have to add I don't consider O'Donoghues to be much more than a tourist pub.

Though it isn't listed on either of the above sites, I'd go to Hughes, behind the Four Courts. Or the Harcourt Hotel. Or any number of other pubs where the best musicians play.

Sorry, I also meant to give you this website, which is currently featuring O'Ds as the pub of the month:

Happiness, as I will be in Dublin on the 25th of May, could you give the address of that pub?
TIA

Shite - what happened there ? My post truncated - a crackdown on the verbose or what ?
I'll try again: Singing Clubs
On that thread you'll find mention of and a website link for the Nenagh Singer's Circle. You should find
people who know about other sessions at that club. As you aren't far away from Clare you should take a trip
in that direction - Doolin for example. Not too sure about the timing of the sessions.
On a side issue, are you French with that name ? A bit early to be looking for political asylum, non ?
I'm waiting until after next Sunday, at least...

Marc,
Hope you'll be on-line once arrived in Ireland - as I assume you're already there.
Anyway, for singing in Tipperary, take a look at this earlier thread:

pick up a copy of Irish Music Magazine and check the list of sessions in the back, it's not complete by any means, but it's fairly up to date.

Apologies accepted Marc, but it doesn't excuse the venom.

Try Castleconnell by Lough Derg, there's a couple of bars there that run very good 'local' sessions. Also an excellent one in 'Pipers' of Feakle, Co Clare on the other side of the Lough. Well worth a visit if you've got transport. Enjoy the Guinness!

You can also try picking up "In Dublin" guide, which lists some stuff outside Dublin, especially concerts. But at this late date, I'd go with whatever the Bord Failte and local tourist boards have in the areas you are in. It is too late to ask 12 hours before departure!

Ask around at the Lobby,Union Quay, Cork. It's not far. You'find out what's going on there: when it's it's not happening in the Lobby, they'll know where it is.

Thanks Kat. You know, as many times as I've tried over the years, I've never gotten results from searching the forum. I must be my own incompetence, but I can't make it work. Buy the way wasn't there also a thread a few months ago about Joe reducing Guest access. This Guest harassment is getting tireing. I mean they don't have the balls to Identify themselves, and 80% of their posts are abusive.

Since YOU KNOW how to do it.

DO it for him Ms. KitKat. Become a servant of the MC and not just a user.

Someone ought to wake up soon and post something for you, Marc. In the meantime, we've had several threads on this subject, so if you do a search using Ireland in the title and set the age filter back a few months there should be some good ideas come up. Good luck and have fun!

I realise it's late, however, I'm leaving for Ireland in about 12 hours. I'll be staying in Co. Tipperary for about 10 days, and am looking for recommendations for sessions. I mostly sing songs, although I also enjoy playing tunes, and will most likely have an instrument. I will entertain almost any distance for good craic.
