Subject: RE: OBIT: Pat Coombs - RIP From: AliUK Date: 28 May 02 - 11:07 AM Don't forget her comedy with Peggy Mount ( who died last year), the name of which escapes me at the moment. Pat was an inveterate smoker and had just finished recording a radio play when she was taken ill. Another great british comedy talent bites the dust, who's there to take their places...Bloody AliG!!? |

Subject: Pat Coombs - RIP From: Fiolar Date: 28 May 02 - 09:28 AM The death has been announced of actress and comedienne Pat Coombs of emphysema aged 75. A hard working professional she appeared in such shows as radio series "Hancock's Half Hour" and in such television series as "Dad's Army"; "Till Death us Do Part" and "On the Buses" to mention a few. Her film appearances included "Carry on Doctor" (1969) and "Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall" (1972) in which she played Spike Milligans mother. She was a regular on the Dick Emery Show and from 1989 to 1990 was in "EastEnders." She suffered from osteoporosis during her later years, a condition which reduced her height from 5ft 8ins to 5ft 2ins. She was an ardent fund raiser for the National Osteoporosis Society and raised more than £100,000. Pat, say hello to Spike, Dick, Arthur Lowe, John Laurie and all the other funny men who I am sure will be most happy for you to join their company. |
