Subject: Attn: Bay Area Catters--This Week From: SDShad Date: 23 Jun 02 - 05:59 PM Short notice and all, but I'm going to be in Sunnyvale starting tomorrow until Friday morning for network training, and my evenings are free. Mostly I'm just going to lounge around the pool or sit in my room reading Crime and Punishment on my Palm Pilot (and Monday I'm heading to the coast for dinner with an old friend), but I'm thinking one night I'd like at least to take in some of the folk/acoustic/celtoid/roots/whatever-related nightlife. From searching the Web, a couple of interesting-sounding possibilities include the Tuesday night Song Session with Vince Keehan at the Plough & Stars in San Francisco Tuesday night, or more likely "Celtic Night" at the King's Head in Campbell, which is considerably closer to where I'll be staying. So if anyone in the Bay area is interested in getting together on short notice to have a drink or so and listen to some music this week with one of those peculiar strangers from the Mudcat who sometimes happen to come along, I'm one o' them, and I'm game. I'm much likelier to have the chance to pop on the 'Cat than to check my actual email much, so PM me here if you might want to get together, or if you've better suggestions for a musical night out than the ones I listed above. (I know, I know, Gillian Welch is playing in Santa Cruz Wednesday night, but $25 is a bit too rich for my blood right now.) Christopher Hoover |
