Subject: RE: Paltalk irish session? From: alison Date: 02 Jan 03 - 06:58 AM I used to run a diddly dee room called "celtic friends"... but I can't get paltalk to work for me anymore... I know a few others used to open the room so it may still be going.... I had a mix of "live' playing and recorded music... always got a nice crowd..... its easy to start your own room..... open one up and see what happens good luck or failing that try opening celtic friends (user name jiggy_1 password 1232)... that should give you admin rights..... slainte alison |

Subject: RE: Paltalk irish session? From: GUEST Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:57 AM Just seen and read another current Paltalk thread. If you do get the chance, look in on Frank's room. It really is a good one (and sometimes I can persuade him to sing "El Passo" for me - can't help loving the song and Frank's version! Jon |
Subject: RE: Paltalk irish session? From: GUEST Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:38 AM There has never really been a room centered round the "diddly dee" stuff that I know of though I for one enjoy it and I can think of a few "'catters" including cyder drinker and Alison who play it... I'm UK resident but if I go on PT, tend to be very late. In my experience any room that likes live music will appreciate that sort of music even though some may seem more American/popular/singer/guitar orientated. In fact, one of my favourite experiences was in one of that type - one of the "Live and Unplugged rooms" when somone who goes by thename of "Rowdy Male" recorded my tune (Turkey In The Straw - something I knew he would know) and when his turn came up, he played "me" together with his live chord backing... I think the bottom line is to be open to trying any live music room (even though some including me at times want just folk) and see how you get on. There is a great community, Mudcatters and non-Mudcatters out there. |
Subject: Paltalk session info? From: hacksawbob Date: 27 Dec 02 - 03:35 PM Hi there, Ive just started up with this paltalk thingy, I understand some Catters out there are users. Is there a regular open mike spot? (pref U.K. evening) Me and my wife cant get to the sessions anymore since our daughter was born, so we are forgetting a lot of tunes due to lack of playing. So if anyone knows where some diddly dee Irish tunes would be appreciated please let me know. PM me with info thanks. Bob. |
