Subject: RE: New Year's Eve - near Worksop From: GUEST,Curly Bin-Lowden Date: 31 Dec 02 - 11:30 AM Sooz, I thought the local custom for you country joskers east of Gainsborough was Muffin' the Mule? Thats what Mississippi Mango O'Carolan told me! CB-L |
Subject: RE: New Year's Eve - near Worksop From: Sooz Date: 31 Dec 02 - 07:10 AM Mumping St Thomas is our local seasonal custom - its a bit like trick or treat but done by middle aged ladies! I'm not nearly old enough yet so I don't know how it goes. See you tonight. |
Subject: RE: New Year's Eve - near Worksop From: My guru always said Date: 31 Dec 02 - 04:50 AM Good guess Rhiannon but I think you'll find that this particular John is from Hull. We had a mobile-satellite link between the sessions in Barton & Barton last night & I was introduced to 'Joh9n from Hull', 'Skipjack' & 'Oakley'. A fun evening was had by all bridging the gap across the miles. Am looking foward to the FC tonight, but am crossing my fingers just now as my car failed miserably last night & we had to have the nice RAC Knight of the Road to see it. My John is having a look at it now. I'm not panicking as there is always John's trusty car or failing that, the B'ol D'or. Sooz, what sort of customs do you have to get through? Is it a Mummers Play? Smiling helps :-) Hope to see you tonight! |

Subject: New Year's Eve - near Worksop From: GUEST,Rhiannon Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:56 AM Hi. The folk club referred to in the New Year's Eve in Hull thread is: Kiveton Park Colliery Cricket Club, At the bottom of Stone Close, Off Stony Bank Drive, Wales, Near Sheffield. If you want directions please email Mick or myself at MickandRhiannonATaolDOTcom The club is very mixed in content and we have no idea how many will turn up on New Year's Eve. The organiser, Andy, says that it will open EVERY Tuesday while he is alive. This has included Christmas Day in previous years - and yes, several people turned up! Plenty of car parking and the bar is REALLY cheap (club prices). Rhiannon >^..^< |
