Not at all... Guess it's just different taste eh... I personally like her site... And what I've found of her music on Kazaa, I kinda dig! |
Subject: RE: Leona's worth a listen... From: Leo Condie Date: 22 Aug 03 - 01:04 PM hey we should welcome this new person to the board by at least acknowledging their request! "just wanted to see what everyone is listening to these days" well, i'm listening to nic jones, bert jansch, various members of clan carthy/waterson, richard thompson, caetano veloso, etc, etc, etc. |
Subject: RE: Leona's worth a listen... From: Mark Clark Date: 22 Aug 03 - 12:05 PM I didn't mean the site doesn't look great, it does. It just wastes the visitors time with meaningless layers devoid of information. A site that busy folks will actually use doesn't waste the visitor's time with a graphic that does nothing but say “Click to enter.” The visitor wanted to enter, that's why they went to the site in the first place. Menus shouldn't look like the latest DVD, they should appear on the same page with a photo of the artist, some bio information and clearly visible links to sound clips. Although the site is very attractive, that's all that it is. Frequent Mudcat readers will know that I'm not a negative person and don't take pot shots at people's work. I imagine Leona has something to offer musically but she really does need to replace her technical staff. - Mark |
Subject: RE: Leona's worth a listen... From: Clinton Hammond Date: 21 Aug 03 - 03:16 PM Any Mp3 samples of her about? I'd be keen to give her a listen... and ignore Mark... I think the web site looks great! |
Subject: RE: Leona's worth a listen... From: Mark Clark Date: 21 Aug 03 - 03:07 PM Hi, Leona. My advice… get a new site designer with some practical and technical experience on top of the requsite graphics ability. No one but your relatives will spend time on the site the way it is. And, for my money, being on Leno is a lot like not being on TV. - Mark |

Subject: Leona's worth a listen... From: GUEST,soulsinger41 Date: 20 Aug 03 - 02:37 PM Hey everyone...I'm fairly new to the board, just wanted to see what everyone is listening to these days. Anyone heard of Leona Naess? She's a singer/songwriter with a real soulful, calming sound. Quite good actually. I've been tryin to decide who I think she sounds like...mostly like Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan, etc. I also hear some Billie Holliday influence in there too. Check some of her stuff out at LeonaNaess.com, and tell me if you agree. Peace! |
