If I may be frank-- always mine all of the material you anticipate ever needing, when you first stumble on these sorts of resources. DoveSong is trying to start up again too.... it LOOKS like it's working but the freshly downloaded files I tried were 0 KB and no sound present. I was very glad, when they went down for a LONG period due to hosting/bandwidth issues, that I had already stowed the material down cellar. I'm still working through it, and I never count on it being there the next time I go looking.

Just discovered the Roots Room through the link in the Pick A Bale thread. I hope the copyright cops leave this fantastic resource alone. BTW, what's the deal with Honking Duck? Have the same miscreants who busted The Record Lady menaced the Duck as well?

I got the link in a thread here at Mudcat in late June; don't remember who originally posted it. The Listening Room was added about the end of July. Sound is rough on some of the tracks, but old blues records are supposed to sound scratchy! Otherwise there'd be no sport whatever in deciphering lyrics.

Those are the new names for Memphis and Davis. Fingers not connected to brain tonight. The link is good.

A fantastic site with some 1600 recordings, 1920-1940 of roots and blues, from Memohis Jug Band to Rev. Gary Bavis.
