Here is the link to the original thread in which we talked about this CD. It is among my very favorites in my collection.

With regard to his incredible repertoire, I know that when I am looking for a take on a song, I need only pull out my Seamus Kennedy CD's and I will usually find it.

BTW, excellent review Jed. Well written.

All the best,

Mick

The album is also a rare chance to hear Percy French's "Abdul Abulbul Ameer". Most of the other songs are familiar (to me) but Seamus always finds a new emphasis, I guess you could say that refreshes them by stamping his personality on every song.

Overall, a great cross-section; recommended.

Texas isn't the only place Seamus is too scarce---Missouri! I have listened to and played songs from the new album on the show. Like you, I really like "Forty Shades of Green" and "Arkle", but there are other songs on that album that are just as worthy of much notice. I've had the privilege of meeting Seamus and watching him perform several sets at a festival in Memphis, TN, and I can attest to the fact that he is a consumate entertainer.
Nice review, Jed.

I had been asked by an Irish Music publication to write a review of Seamus Kennedy's new album, PARTY PIECES.

Here's a link to the article on-line, as it will be published in the SCMA's Ceili magazine.
