Subject: RE: Robin/Maurice Gibb's birthday From: Dave the Gnome Date: 23 Dec 06 - 09:52 AM Aye - and proud of being both Manx and Mancs from an interview if I remember rightly. The NY Mining disatser was good but one of my favourites from that era was the "First of May". Bit soppy but a lovely tune and surprisingly seasonal - When I was small, and christmas trees were tall, We used to love while others used to play. Dont ask me why, but time has passed us by, Some one else moved in from far away. (chorus) Now we are tall, and christmas trees are small, And you dont ask the time of day. But you and I, our love will never die, But guess we'll cry come first of may. The apple tree that grew for you and me, I watched the apples falling one by one. And I recall the moment of them all, The day I kissed your cheek and you were mine. (chorus...) When I was small, and christmas trees were tall, Do do do do do do do do do... Dont ask me why, but time has passed us by, Some one else moved in from far away. Cheers DtG |

It's just a photograph of someone that I new. Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones? Do you know what it's like on the outside? Don't go talking too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones. I keep straining my ears to hear a sound. Maybe someone is digging underground, or have they given up and all gone home to bed, thinking those who once existed must be dead. Subject: RE: Robin/Maurice Gibb's birthday From: Scrump Date: 22 Dec 06 - 11:02 AM Yes, stuff like "New York Mining Disaster 1941" (I even heard someone do that in a folk club - I guess it has a 'folky' story, as opposed to most of the pop stuff from that era). |
Subject: RE: Robin/Maurice Gibb's birthday From: Dave the Gnome Date: 22 Dec 06 - 10:57 AM How come they started doing that falsetto thing? Remember the early stuff? It was quite good. DtG |
