Subject: Bradford on Avon Carols From: Fiery Dragon Date: 08 Nov 24 - 05:54 PM You are invited to a free singing group to learn the very special and unusual Christmas carols that we sing in the pubs in Bradford on Avon in harmony. We meet at 3pm every Sunday in November in the club house behind the Dog and Fox in Bradford on Avon. All parts will be taught ‘by ear’ so you don't need to be able to read music. What’s more it’s free to get in. Don’t worry if you can’t make every session because you don’t have to commit to attending every week. On 24 November, the last Sunday before the pub carols start, there will be a special session with our own carols band. Bring your friends to this one in particular because even if they don’t want to learn the harmonies they can familiarize themselves with the tunes and enjoy the atmosphere of singing with the band. After that we sing them in the pubs with the carols band on the following Sundays at 4pm: 3 December The Canal Tavern 8 December The Dog and Fox 15 December The Boathouse The carols are not from the standard repertoire of Christmas carols, but many of them originated in the 18th or early 19th century at a time when most churches had a wooden gallery at the back where choirs, accompanied by bands of mixed instruments, led the singing. We have no religious affiliation but sing the carols for the beauty and joy of them. For more information phone Anne Gregson on 01225 864706 or see our website: www.bradfordonavoncarols.info |
