I wasn't really listening at the time but there was a program on the Beeb about Tammy Wynette. They played an early recording of her singing (I think) "Sing me a lonesome song". Any one got the words? It sounded a rather interesting song.

Haven't managed to find words in the usual places and it's not in the songbase.

I am also looking for lyrics / info on this song.. the Tammy Wynette doc was on BBC4 the other night and it's a lovely tune.
Doesn't seem to exist anywhere online though.

I've just watched the programme.It's a lovely song. I've never heard it before and I cant find anything about it.

That's because song i am looking for is an entirely different song!
It was written by David Vest and contains the lyrics:

When the sky turns to silver
Just before dark
And the night comes to haunt me again
When gone is the memory
Of a sadness like mine
Sing me a lonesome song..

I'm still searching but have contacted David and have been promised full lyrics soon!
It's a beautiful song!
