Far from a strong North of England accent,m I would have said a Southern Irish accent.
The poster, Lissadell 1916 says it's his version of the song.

No, I'm Irish, living in Ireland all my life, and I assure you that he has a North of England accent.

His profile says he is 49 and his hometown is London.
But he certainly has Irish and Scots friends and his music taste seems to be strongly Irish rebel.
Don't recognise the voice though.

This is very difficult to decipher. May be someone else's recording that s/he (Lissadell) has claimed as her/his favourite.

In any case it is wonderful rich recording. And now I love it too. So I sent Lissadell a question in Youtube. Maybe we will get an answer.

ok I can hear a teeside twang in there and also some irish, so is it someone trying to sing in an irish brogue and other accents are leaching in, possibly irish parents northern upbringing, like the song as presented, show yourself............is it you Sean?

I dont think he is from North East of England, seems to me he is probably born in Ireland and maybe living in UK somewhere. I thought accent Irish!!

Yes, I'd say he has Irish parents or grew up with lots of Irish neigbhours, but his phrasing and accent are recognisably English. It's lovely to hear these songs newly interpreted, and in such a beautiful singing voice.

I only divulge because Jim Hanlon ( who I don't know ) and I'm certainly not doing a roundabout publicity !!!!! sounds hellish like the man in question .
Could be just a coincidence - or some wag will write that they don't sound like each other - but I think it's quite a good likeness.

Definitely not Dave. Not gentle enough or laid back enough.

He's obviously learnt it from an Irish recording hence the copied accent. I'd also say northern English, but no recognisable northern accent there. Vaguely familiar, nicely phrased, good backing track, nice visuals, pleasant voice.

To be honest the nearest I could get in little nuances was either Mick McMcGarry or Malcolm Storey but the backing was putting me off. Both of these are from my own home town Hull which is perhaps why I couldn't pinpoint the accent. It's always much harder to pinpoint your own accent especially when it's disguised in some way.

Come on, Mr Nobody, are you from Hull, or Leeds perhaps?
