2004 sees the second year of the Mudcat Alternative British Folk Awards. Not a prestigious event, but one which celebrates the past year in the world of cyber-assisted folk music. Last year, a completely undemocratic and non-representational group of Mudcat members voted to pick a winner in each of the categories below. This really is like the real thing isn't it?

I note that the number of nominees is at least in one category significantly fewer than the nominees submitted in the preceding postings. Furthermore, I can see no way that the members who posted have determined which are selected for the ballot paper and which are ignored. Certainly, there are candidates in the ballot with only one nomination, while others have been omitted after receiving two or more independent nominations.

Is the Mudcat becoming a guided democracy?????

Cornwall Songwriters new project, to be launched in June is 'Unsung Heroes', the story of the gardeners from the Lost Gardens of Heligan who went off to the WW1 and how the gardens became 'lost'. We have full support of Candy Smit at Heligan and the show will open in the Lost Gardens of Heligan on June 5th and 6th. It's going to be amazing to do it there.

(not that I am biased or anything!) Really looking forward to doing it at Heligan too!!!! (I hope that is singing)!
