Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: GUEST,Charliebrown Date: 10 Nov 11 - 07:30 PM Barb'ry.....thanks for your support. I would be very grateful if you would return and say what you think of the quality of these links....and that they don't have any virus's in them. This would help me greatly to prove to certain people (on here) that I posted these links with the best intentions......to share great music. Thanks again Barb'ry |

Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: evansakes Date: 16 Nov 11 - 10:39 AM What's all this? Are these links to free downloads? If so why the hell are you doing this, Folky? To the best of my knowledge each series of the Transatlantic Sessions is ommercially available on DVD. By that method it's safe to assume the artists, producers etc would get suitably remunerated. I have some of the DVDs and hope to be getting the rest soon. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Barb'ry Date: 16 Nov 11 - 10:57 AM I thanked the poster before but when I clicked the link there is a multi-coloured, ad-laden page with a very small link at the top. I didn't click the link, sorry. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: evansakes Date: 16 Nov 11 - 12:24 PM Me neither.....I wish he's peddle his pirate wares elsewhere rather than gatecrashing a thread I started to celebrate the new televised series. If anyone wants to watch these things more often than they appear on TV or iPlayer they should do the decent thing and buy the DVDs. Here's one worthwhile emporium that would be pleased to partake in an honest transaction whereby everyone can watch the programmes at their leisure Musicscotland.com The links represent the cost of sharing free files - they load slower and you have to look at advertising. That doesn't make them bit torrent files. --mudelf |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 16 Nov 11 - 12:30 PM I have the DVD for this season on order, and if you can afford it, it's what I recommend others do. slightly different name to the following website but they have The Sessions as well. Music In Scotland Thanks Twickfolk for your link |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: GUEST Date: 16 Nov 11 - 07:27 PM OK guys, I've listened to what you have said and removed all the links and files. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Backwoodsman Date: 16 Nov 11 - 10:40 PM For the record......my comments regarding sound quality referred to the original transmissions by BBC2 Scotland, which I recorded from Sky on my Sky+ box, nothing to do with any of the links above, 'torrent downloads' (whatever the fuck they are) or any kind of pirated shit. I have not downloaded any pirated material, nor will I. I'll buy the DVD when it's available. I have already bought tickets for the 'Transatlantic Sessions Live' tour in early 2012. Just wanted that understood. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 16 Nov 11 - 11:23 PM I understood what you meant Backwoodsman, and have areally great time at the concert! GUEST you don't have that ability, to remove the links from this thread, only a Mod can do that, so we have nothing to thank for, eh WAV. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: MartinRyan Date: 17 Nov 11 - 03:56 AM Looks like he/she has disabled the OTHER end. Regards |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Nov 11 - 05:29 PM There you have the snarling BTNG looking a gift horse in the mouth and not taking the time to understand the dynamic of the free download. Too bad, they might have been interesting. SRS |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 17 Nov 11 - 06:57 PM Oh I understand the so-called "dynamic" it's theft. Still if you're that cheap that you won't invest in the DVD. These are folk who earn their living from playing music; or do you think they should be doing it for free? Oh and before YOU carry on like a rather silly old woman, try checking Murray Macleod's postings for October 30th and November 5th |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Nov 11 - 07:15 PM The programs are in different formats but they're all for download. Six of one half-dozen of the other. You simply have a hair up your ass about some members and are intent on making their participation here difficult. You camp out and have a smart answer because you're happiest when the thread is really more about you than anything else. It's a control thing, isn't it? DVDs from different parts of the world won't play everywhere unless they're in an open format, so depending on where you're from and how and where they discs are released, the download may be the only way to see them for a while. You're mentioning theft and cheap but you in fact know nothing about how people choose to sample or listen and then buy the product when it finally becomes available. I don't download unless there is no other option, I think many of our members behave that way. SRS |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 17 Nov 11 - 09:33 PM All Transatlantic Sessions DVDs are Region 0 ( playable worldwide) available at various online locations including Amazon and http://www.musicscotland.com all the links provided by Murray MacLeod are in one single format, Windows Media Video (WMV) PS.old man There a few whose opinion I value highly, you aren't one of them AND you have no idea who Folky was, I do. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Nov 11 - 10:58 PM I do know who folky et al are, BTNG, and I know your guess is wrong. And anyone who aspires to earn your good opinion is frankly, a fool. SRS |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 17 Nov 11 - 11:15 PM "And anyone who aspires to earn your good opinion is frankly, a fool." if you say so. Anyway this thread is about The Transatlantic Sessions Series 5 Episodes One through Five are now available on You Tube, for you viewing (or whatever else you choose to do, if you have the right software) pleasure |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: michaelr Date: 17 Nov 11 - 11:47 PM Who Folky was? Why, did you kill him? BTNG's assertion that the DVDs are playable worldwide is a bit disingenuous. As can be seen at Music Scotland, they may be labeled "Region 0", but they can only be played by machines that support the European PAL format. Which in my case, being in the US, means that I can only play them on my computer. As it is, I'll be ordering Season 5 along with Season 2 which has just come out after (presumably) years of legal wrangling. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Tattie Bogle Date: 18 Nov 11 - 12:25 PM Yes I saw Series 2 DVD on sale in the music shop in Beauly (inverness-shire) when I was up there. On my Christmas list! BobKnight - yes "Leaving Limerick" sung by Muireann was fabulous - was this song the inspiration for the (better known?) "Leaving of Liverpool"? I was gutted to find that tho' I'd recorded it on our DVD recorder, the disc ran out just as she started singing that song, but have been able to see it on iPlayer. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 18 Nov 11 - 12:35 PM Who Folky was? Why, did you kill him? Yes and my apologies for my misreading of the music in scotland site |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: BTNG Date: 18 Nov 11 - 12:43 PM Some DVD players only play discs identified as NTSC or PAL, while others can play both standards NTSC format is mainly supported in USA, Canada, South America & the Caribbean. So whatever works for you, go for it. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic Sessions - Series 5 From: Skipjack K8 Date: 28 Nov 11 - 08:33 AM Ah, the power of Mudcat! All it took was giving Alba a jolly good talking to about not showcasing English Folk Music on the Transatlantic Sessions, and they put fellow accordionist and all round good fellow Donald Shaw on the job to choose six decent acts rooted in the English Folk Genre (and I don't know how wide that envelope is!)to showcase in the 2013 Celtic Connections. Derek Schofield kindly put it up here a week ago, but seemingly nobody bit. Here's the direct link And here's Derek's thread |
