Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: maeve Date: 12 Mar 12 - 09:55 AM Beautiful! I hope this experience will serve to give your nephew Emilio Fina the additional training and opportunities he has earned. He seems like a lovely fellow, Adrien. Here's what he sang: (from http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/opera/qt/nessundormatext.htm) Italian Text Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! Dilegua, o notte! Tramontate, stelle! Tramontate, stelle! All'alba vincerò! vincerò, vincerò! English Translation of "Nessun Dorma" Nobody shall sleep!... Nobody shall sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!... (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win! |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 12 Mar 12 - 10:09 AM Wow! I love the way he raised the torches/flashlights at the end. I wonder if he sings to the airplanes. I used to work with gas turbine driven generators and would tend to them with ear muffs, singing Joni at the top of my voice because no one but me could hear. I could be loud and fearless. I hope he goes far. Anything that is less than great about his voice has to do with training and not talent or ability, and he'll only get better. Wish I could get C.G.T. here. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 12 Mar 12 - 10:27 AM Thanks for the email, Bud. I had a tear in me eye. What a wonderful performance and story. And, the story ain't over yet. I shall be watching CGT this year. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 12 Mar 12 - 04:10 PM I hope all the Canucks here keep track of CGT, and, if so inclined, vote. Not that it really matters on accounta "a star is born". Stay with me on the following... Matter of fact, I'll bet he gets "booted off" early on in the main competition and here's why... these shows are aimed at a certain age bracket and at certain genres in order to sell tickets/CDs. For those reasons, I think he has a slim chance of winning the whole thing, so, he may be cut after a few performances in the main competition AND then signed to a big contract AND have a rewarding career. Seriously, I just cannot imagine why he isn't already off the tarmack and in the concert hall. Then again, I could be fulla shit. Either way, the lad is gonna make it big time. I'll be voting for him if he sings like that during the competition. If he DOES make the final, I'll vote more than once. |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 12 Mar 12 - 04:12 PM Oh, yeah, I forgot. When does the main competion begin? |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 12 Mar 12 - 06:46 PM I'm in the dark about this as much as you are Gnu. I just found out like a day before that Emilio was on. They are very strict about telling the public who has qualified. Once it is out in the open than the race is on. But to tell you how it works, I hope to find out soon. ad. |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 12 Mar 12 - 08:28 PM Well, he's through to the next level. And I would think he will make it to the main competition. He's just TOO good not to make it further if he continues to sing like that or get better as the rather haughty female judge said he could (I disliked her attitude... rather arrogant IMO... read "self-important"... snooty... bitch). At that point, it will be up to the voting public as to how far he goes (of course, we all know that is a load of horseshit... people with millions of dollars invested in this TV show use the votes that come in to make THEIR final decisions). Once again, the only thing that really matters at this point is exposure. Simply put, this CGT... this Canuck Got Talent. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 Mar 12 - 11:19 PM I thought your nephew was wonderful! I don't know much about opera, certainly not the vocal techniques the woman judge referred to, but the last time I heard that was about two years ago when Turandot was screened at my local movie theater as part of the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD events. That's below. Compare for yourselves. I think Emilio's performance stands up well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW2rnLmEH8E&feature=related |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 Mar 12 - 11:45 PM Thank you Chantey and thank you for the video clip. To be honest, I'm a folk singer and no relatively nothing about opera. I am very proud of my nephew and he is a very genuine person. He is a very loving father and family is definitely first. Singing of course right there as well. ad. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: GUEST,Emilio Fina Date: 15 Mar 12 - 05:54 PM Hey folks, this is Emilio here. MY Uncle told me about this site and I am very please that you liked my audition. Keep watching on Sunday's. We will soon find out more. Anyway, to aswer the boot out early guy......there is no age limit. Susan Boyle of Britain's Got Talent was 48 and she made it to the final 2. (she did not win). She got signed soon after. Anyway, who cares....just love life. I have been blessed to have a family who loves me and a somewhat secure job that provides for us for the last 15 years. God Bless everyone...and thanks. Emilio www.emiliofina.com |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 17 Mar 12 - 12:20 AM Thanks for refreshing maeve. Just back from our coffee house where we were entertained by a fantastic Cajun band. "Grouyan Gombo", they had everyone on the floor. It wasn't Opera but buy Jobe it was fun. ad. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 18 Mar 12 - 10:53 PM Beer, please keep posting clips of Emilio's appearances. I hope there will be many! I don't get Canada'a Got Talent in the US and imagine others outside of Canada don't, either. Nor do I wish to try streaming the whole programs. I just want to see his performances and follow how well he does. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: GUEST Date: 21 Mar 12 - 01:36 PM ...i've listened to Emilio's piece on CGT over and over again. The power in his voice and his truly hitting the " high C " was incredible. What really struck me is how long he hit that "high C" note for...i think around 12 seconds...just unbelievable. I did not care much for the female judges comments...he was pure and simple sensational. |

|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: meself Date: 26 Mar 12 - 08:01 PM That original clip has been removed; "copyright infringement". That "female judge", btw, is literally a diva - an operatic star by the (certain to be misspelled) name of Degouzian. From NB. So, it's likely she knows what she's talking about, whatever her 'attitude'. (She's the one I've seen on there, the couple of times I've caught the show). |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 26 Mar 12 - 08:50 PM Hooray for Emilio! |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 27 Mar 12 - 08:27 AM You are right meself, she is a diva and if Emilio is stopped it will be her who does it. The other two judges probably would never have picked up on her observation. Hell I'm a singer and I didn't. But being in the opera field she is in tuned to it. Best wishes Emilio and will see what happens. Ad. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: maeve Date: 27 Mar 12 - 08:59 AM Whatever our opinions may be about the person giving the advice regarding supported breathing, it is very useful advice and fairly easily accomplished... and can not only help in this competition, but can protect that beautiful voice. Best wishes to Emilio! |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 28 Mar 12 - 01:22 PM Just found this from a jennifer Cox article. "For the next three weeks of "Canada's Got Talent," semi-finalists will show off all of their skills during special 70-minute shows. The first one airs on Monday, April 2nd at 8pm. Viewers will be able to vote on the semi-finalists immediately following the program." ad. |
|
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 28 Mar 12 - 02:10 PM I agree with Beer and maeve. She seemed self-important and arrogant BUT if she can help him with coaching and in his professional career, bring it on! Alas, I am truly saddened to find out (so far) that I cannot watch the program. Must be some kinda deal with infringement on "Canadian Idol". It's only on City TV out of Toronto and that channel is not carried by my cable company. |
