Well someone had to do it. I hope this months thread not only has more response than last months (a very poor total indded) but has an intellectual standard that exceeds the expectations of the goons and trolls who, although they condemn it, cannot help but read it. we can at least try and make it entertaining for them as they apparently have but little else to do !!

Just so I can introduce a little musical element at the start (the lack of which has been a source of much criticism from trolls)may I direct you to another thread thats goes under the title of Raggytash & Wombat.

Sorry to divert the thread so soon but one must do what one must do

Les, you don't get away that easy. This was a slip up on our managers part. Mrs Ossonflags does not leave the house without at least twenty CD's nailed to her thigh,so I desay she will aproach you today.

I love you like a brother Raggy, however my steet cred must remain intact.

Les, you must have been at a different bloody gig to me then! Mrs O floored me with a flying tackle as soon as I entered the place and politely insisted that I purchase said CD!
'steal away' is the best track.

Ahem, I have news of a music related nature, if you don't mind?

This is for the musicians amongst us. You know when you're learning an instrument, initially you play what you're taught, painstakingly, to play, gradually getting better? You get pretty good at doing what you've learnt, but can still only play what you've been shown. Then you start experimenting making it sound a bit different. But then, somewhere down the line, a magical breakthrough takes place which tranforms your playing.

I'm talking about the first time you hear a specific piece of music in your head, pick up your instrument and figure out how to play it without being shown. Or perhaps you're tinkering around with a guitar, and something you play reminds you of something, so you sit until you've figured out what it is, and how to play it.

This is a fundamental breakthrough that divides those of us who play parrot fashion what they have been taught, or learnt from a book, from those of us who are musicians. Who feel music inside their head, and can make it happen at their fingertips. The musicians amongst us will know what I mean, and will probably remember when it first happened to them. I know I do.

Anyway, this is something I have been waiting to happen to my son Alex for a little while now, knowing it's just around the corner for him. This weekend, he acquired a newish Yamaha Guitar. He took it upstairs on Sunday, stripped the strings, put a new set on it, tuned it up, and proceeded to play it. He came back downstairs about three hours later, and said "Dad, what's this tune called? I found it by accident" Wait for this, folks....

He had tuned the E down to a dropped D. He sat down and proceeded to play the entire A part of....

Abbeyfeale.

Oakley, you have struck again. I imagine you may be quite chuffed about that. I know I was. Gobsmacked. Not only that, but he then said "that would sound good with two guitars in harmony, dad."

Watch this space, there's a new kid in town.

What, he chose the most depressing track9 on the CD? I suspect jOhn's breakthrough will occur further up the track listing!

Wonderful story, Peter, and very well written, in my opinion. All power to the lad. My clone is taking a little longer, but he has taken to my new electric bass with some aplomb.

Guys, have finally had the chance to sit down and listen to your bloody marvellous CD!!!! Michael your voice sounds sweeter than ever you are a true balladeer - I love 'Ordinary Man' and 'Steal Away'. Dave's 'Abbeyfeale' remains one of the most stunning tunes anyone is likely to hear and has been sensitively and beautifully played on this CD. The guitar at the beginning is amazing (Pete?). Finally, love this version of Sparehand- great arrangement by Andy on the squeezebox and sounds so much better sung by a bloke!!! keep it up guys!!! Linda

On behalf of the band, I extend thanks to you, Linda Kelly for sharing your thoughts upon hearing the CD, on a thread read by literally tens of people. I know that Ossonflags is a bit shy when it comes to receiving the plaudits of others, DeanMeister is still a bit too full to speak and the accordionist doesn't bother with this electrical nonesense.

Your song is stunning. Ossonflags is a bloke? Since when?

When last heard of, South Ferriby was being gradually eroded by efforts of the River Humber and slowly being transported to Holland in an early and valiant bid to truly be at the heart of the European Economic Union. Further details of this bold decision will follow when time allows

South Ferriby has just achieved its second consecutive black leather hangglider award from the English Tourism Board for having absolutely no facilities for visitors whatsoever.

We are all very proud and have set fire to several cars and and a sausage delivery vehicle in celebration.

Look - I've had enough of this. It started off as drivel which is fine, now it has descended into utter piffle. If you have something interesting to say about music in all its forms, particularly the depressing9 track 9 - Abbeyfeale on the album "Changing Your Demeanour9", please gush forth. If you want to dicsuss skin conditions, shellfish or any other nonesense. Just shut up. I have had enough of this and I am completely beside myself with agahstness again.

A musical question, if that's ok with you. Have you any tips for emtpying a 'cello which is completely stuffed with hardened pink blancmange? It is a serious question. And if you are wondering, it happened at one of my restrained and genteel musical house parties last week.

Oaktwig, Crab Apple whatever your name is ......... you completely miss my point, if you actually play the dots and lessions on Ayatollah's skin the music there descibed is wonderfully evocative of Bedouin camps at night, the smells...... sweat, camel shit, hashish, the sounds of the deserts, the rustling of the sands, the cry of the scarab beetle as it perishes under the onslaught of a scorpion, the farting of the old men, the sighs of the women folk as they contemplate the next days washing ......... John Vaughan Williams eat your heart out
