Subject: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Mick Woods Date: 14 Aug 08 - 11:38 AM Well, here we go again folks. The Folkmob and friends will be camping out for a late summer/early autumn extended weekend in sunny knockholt! See HERE for more details. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Richard Bridge Date: 14 Aug 08 - 06:08 PM BEWARE - that is the weekend of my 60th birthday so I may be twisting a few arms to come and help me stay drunk. In particular my noisy daughter Rachel and her boyf Sam have promised to come (if I lend them a caravan, she does not do canvas) So - if we can keep her singing we can just tell people who are lost to turn off the M20, open their windows, listen and follow the sound. Oh, he is a full kit drummer. Should he bring the kit do you think??? (only joking) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 15 Aug 08 - 02:35 AM Look forward to assisting you in staying drunk Richard! Anybody out there that can give me a lift to knockholt Wednesday morning from Kidbrooke? We don't have a car at the moment. I will Pay. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: naughtyforty Date: 15 Aug 08 - 08:29 AM Looking forward to Knockholt - I am sure there will many willing volunteers to help you stay drunk Richard. Looking forward to hearing your daughter sing. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: melodeonboy Date: 16 Aug 08 - 05:26 AM I'm gigging on Saturday and Sunday but I'm hoping to be there on Friday night. I'd never noticed that Richard needed any help to stay drunk! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 16 Aug 08 - 08:45 AM He doesn't actually say he needs help to GET drunk, but to STAY drunk. So I suppose he will be legless and require a runner to fetch more beer!!! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: fisheye Date: 16 Aug 08 - 03:14 PM I did not think the legal profession were allowed to advertise their services, surely staying drunk may full into this catagory. However I am sure the Bar, will stay open for you Richard. We look forward to enjoying your company at another auturm Knockholt. 60 is a great age, it qualifies you to still remember what you done in your youth, plus you can use your 'bus pass' to get you home from KH if you stay too drunk. regards Fisheye |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,rafflesbear Date: 16 Aug 08 - 04:18 PM I can offer broken pallets to anyone who wants to pick them up from either Sevenoaks or Borough Green |

Have a wonderful time on your 60th. Richard, and I hope you've already applied for the Bus pass, and of course your heating allowance - which might help a little bit towards the bar bill by the sounds of it. Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: naughtyforty Date: 19 Aug 08 - 08:37 AM When I saw you after the event that does not happen Kev I think you would have been hard pushed to remember who you even talked to let alone if you upset anyone!!! Check out the Broadstairs link John - I think it's just thee and me that don't get on with the place! Kev |

If Fisheye has his technology and both he and George are coming with their banjos, can we do a live recording please? Glad JB is now going to be around Fri/Sat. It wouldn't have been the same without him. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,rafflesbear Date: 23 Aug 08 - 04:06 AM hi Richard there is roadside advertising at Bat + Ball - although personally I have an aversion to three board advertising on grass verges |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Girl Friday Date: 24 Aug 08 - 11:36 AM That's great that Norcsalordie'll be 100% there. I never assume as only 50% come from Kent. Should enliven the precedings on Thursday then! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Mick Woods Date: 24 Aug 08 - 12:19 PM Help - I still need a lift! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 Aug 08 - 12:36 PM What day are you going up Woodsie? In view of the year I am planning to take time off from the office (if all goes well) and so will arrive Weds, (having received post) I've got someone to check my post Thurs, and I have to pop home on Fri to ready my spare wardo for the princess and boyf - so if you are holidoid from Weds I can prolly collect you en route - it's only from somewhere near Eltham innit? And so to vanwatch! Today Paul my lodger (another full kit drummer) and I have re-mantled the oven and hob which should now work safely and planned the built-in PA system, and planned the princess-proofing of the spare wardo. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST Date: 24 Aug 08 - 03:06 PM My sister lives in Westerham and she will be driving me to Knockholt on the Tuesday evening around 7oclock. I,ll be pitched by 8oclock and stroll down the TallyHo where I shall make me stay till closing time. I shall then jog back up to the field leap the gate go to sleep. I be up with the Lark on the Wednesday to meet the first offical arrivals. Well its beats getting a train and all that Par-larva with buses and one night alone in a field. What could possibly happen /Go wrong? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: naughtyforty Date: 24 Aug 08 - 03:10 PM Maria by the Sea and I will both be there on Friday afternoon (around 5.00pm hopefully). See you all there |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: growler Date: 24 Aug 08 - 04:18 PM I am on leave that week, I am trying to find an excuse, not to go away untill after the weekend. I don't think that Maria would view filling Richard's tankard, a good reason. I'm on the case |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,Pete the hat Date: 24 Aug 08 - 05:43 PM |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: fisheye Date: 25 Aug 08 - 04:42 AM not sure i have met Norcsalordie, however my brain never remembers names, faces stay a lifetime especially when captured through my cameras. as far as i am away George will be there, he is in Scotland at present. The Fair Maid of Nottingham and Fisheye should be on site Thursday around middayish. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Girl Friday Date: 25 Aug 08 - 12:29 PM Norcsalordie have definitely sung at Blackheath and both Orpingtons and I believe at Tudor Barn. They are young, lively, professional folkies and fans as well as friends of TDL. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: GUEST,Norcsalordie Date: 27 Aug 08 - 05:16 PM You're right about Blackheath (we've been booked for a gig there on December 9th) and the Orpingtons but we never made it to the Tudor Barn - a joy yet to come - and we have of course p[layed the Fox and Hounds As for fans of TDL - too right we are - It was wonderful watching the audience reaction in the garden at the Neptunes Hall first disbelief, followed by broad smiles, a quick check with their friends to make sure they were on board, then the phones came out to take pictures, then singing along. I think the disbelief might have had something to do with the go-go dancers :-) looking forward to next Thursday and hearing your new song again |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Mick Woods Date: 28 Aug 08 - 12:59 PM Yes I cabn bear witness that Norscalardie are a fine young duo that have the talent to take a worn out, tired old folk song, give it a good kick up the ass, a shake down and produce something sparkling and fresh. I can't wait to catch them at KH. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 Aug 08 - 01:10 PM Quite a lot of us are a bit lardie Woodsie, but again I think a few of us can still give a song a kicking. Shame about our singing of course... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Aug 08 - 02:56 PM Reefer-ish |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Mick Woods Date: 29 Aug 08 - 05:23 PM Richard; I hold the same regard for your rendition of some old somgs. Renardyne is a good example - an old song augmented with acoustic driving power chords. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Richard Bridge Date: 30 Aug 08 - 06:52 AM Thank you Mick. Two points. I think the big "drivers" that I do are probably Famous Flower of Serving Men, Gentlemen of High Renown, and Brave Benbow. None of them use power chords. Reynardine is pretty much a rip-off of teh Fairport arrangement - no power chords at all - but you are thinking of the bridge (mine, not Fairport's) with that striking repeated reference through the Em7 to and back from the C. The only one I do that uses a bunch of power chords (that comes to mind at the moment) is "Henry Martin". It' also a LONG way from a 3-chord trick! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Mick Woods Date: 30 Aug 08 - 07:42 AM Well maybe not power chords as in dyad 5ths. But certainly power in the total sound that is produced, with a refreshing sound complimenting the vocal. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Gold 3rd-7th September From: Girl Friday Date: 30 Aug 08 - 12:09 PM So far there has been no mention of food on this thread. Will there be a communual meal in the marquee? Otherwise "Norcs"... dinner at Chez Leopard? |
