Subject: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: GUEST,Lin Date: 10 May 22 - 06:21 PM Today, May 10, 2022 is Donovan's birthday. Born, May 10, 1946. 76 years old today. Hope it is a beautiful and magical day for you. I have been a very long time fan and the first concert I ever attended was to see you in Los Angeles when I was a wisp of a girl, 14 years old.. Went to many concerts over the years, the last one in Monterey, California. |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: Helen Date: 10 May 22 - 07:36 PM Yes, Happy Birthday, Sir! The first records (vinyl) my sister and I ever bought were Barabajagal, and the Donovan's Greatest Hits album, probably in 1969. I remember that day very well. We couldn't afford many records so those two albums were our sole collection for some time to come. You have always been one of my favourite performers. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: GUEST,Lin Date: 10 May 22 - 08:37 PM To Gerry M. Do you by chance know of or remember a group called Donovancelticdreamwevers. It was a yahoo group just for Donovan fans but I can't seem to find it anymore. The last post (via email) was around 2018 or maybe 2019. The moderator was a lady who lived in Toronto, Canada and went only by her user name, "Flowerbunnie" If you remember or anyone else reading this knows about this group, please post any information or how to get in touch with Flowerbunnie, who was the host/moderator. I never knew her actual name. Can't seem to find anything on Yahoogroups anymore, so maybe no longer around. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 May 22 - 09:35 PM Yahoo groups went away a few years ago. You might try the same URL you had through the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. You'll be surprised at how helpful that can be. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: GUEST,Lin Date: 11 May 22 - 12:06 AM To GerryM. Hi, I clicked on the link above in your post but just took me to a page but nothing really there. Didn't see Flowerbunnie's name or any posts there. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: GerryM Date: 11 May 22 - 08:11 PM Lin, sorry, I saw Flowerbunnie in the URL and assumed the page would lead somewhere useful. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: keberoxu Date: 11 May 22 - 09:29 PM Oddly, the performance for which I most loved Donovan was on the debut album by Mary Hopkin, where they sang "Lord of the Reedy River" together, it's a wonderful mood-setting piece. Mary Hopkin's experience on that album with Paul McCartney producing was not a happy one, but she sounds blissful singing with Donovan! |
Subject: RE: Happy Biwrthday Donovan Leitch From: GUEST,Lin Date: 11 May 22 - 10:14 PM Hi GerryM. Thanks just the same. If you do find any leads, please let me know (for Flowerbunnie, the moderator for the Donovancelticdreamweavers, Yahoogroups site. She was such a huge Donovan fan that when she had a son, she named him, can you guess. Donovan of course.???????? |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Donovan Leitch From: GUEST,Lin Date: 11 May 22 - 10:24 PM To Keberoxu, Yes, I have to agree, "Lord of the Reedy River with Mary Hopkin & Donovan singing together is "blissful." I am also a big Mary Hopkin fan. There is so much more wonderful music of hers that I really love. You should have a listen to her singing a cover of the Billy Ed Wheeler song called, "The Coming of the Roads" You can listen to it on Youtube. It is sooo beautiful. Not singing that one with Donovan though. |
