Just read that Frank Ifield passed away yesterday aged 86.

You might not know who he is but He Remembers You.

He has been described as an Australian Country singer and also did a bit of yodelling. So, he just about qualifies for a mention here.

He had a few hits in the early sixties and three number ones. His popularity faded when the "Beat Boom" took off.

Frank Ifield made it to a good age considering his long term health problems. I Remember You, Confessin' Lovesick Blues, The Wayward Wind all British number ones. He had a great range on those high yodelling notes.. check out 'She Taught Me To Yodel'.   He was pretty much swept away by the Beatkes, but ironically you can hear the Beatles paying tribute to the popularity of Frank Ifield when they slightly butchered 'I remember you' playing the song live in his style, but not quite hitting his notes - as heard in the Star Club tapes.

I once saw and met him at a disastrous concert in the town of Nairn, near Inverness.   He performed well, but sadly the crowd was sparse and that was in a community hall. This was in the early 80's. He did straddle different genres of recorded music within the material he performed. Another golden oldie departed.
