Hi,
I've just moved to Greatham, between Chichester and Worthing. Any folkies around? There's an open platform night in Brighton every two weeks which has lots of poetry and hip-hop and some songs but it's not very trad. I write new political songs but I also like the trad so if there's any around I'm interested.

Does the Monday night singaround in Steyning still take place every fortnight? It isn't mentioned in the Folk Guide, but I don't think it ever was ....Roy and Noel (can't remember surnames) used to run it.

Incidentally I see that Grant Baynham is playing Eastbourne Folk Club on February 13th. You've probably all seen him before, but if not, try not to miss.

Sorry Murray Steyning has, or is just about to, cease. Lack of interest by the publican by all accounts.

How are you mate? Are you going to come and sing in Seaford again soon?

The Gribble at Oving - Excellent night

Murray, a question - Is "The Royal Oak" you refer to the one at Langstone Harbour? - terrific pub and also a good night, unfortunately only once a month I believe.

The Royal Oak is at Lewes .. if you look on www.whatson.brighton.co.uk/folk .. it gives most if not all of the listings from the local "Folk Diary"

Ouch......I'm obviously blissfully aware of any 'politics' etc & wish to keep matters that way - perhaps if this guest has a problem they should address matters personally with the appropriate persons rather than make silly remarks in open forum.   Carole

I am also characteristically unaware of what is sometimes referred to as "politics" of sessions. I have wandered in and joined in sessions and later been told it's very cliquey but I hadn't noticed at all. I would rather not know until at least after I've been once or twice.

There's a chance now that I'm going elsewhere as I have neither money nor job here. I hope I get to sing with you all some time.
