Subject: Lyr Add: THE PENIS SONG (from Monty Python) From: GUEST,Steve Bad Date: 17 Jun 11 - 10:00 PM THE PENIS SONG (From Monty Python) Isn't it awf'lly nice to have a penis? Isn't it frightf'lly good to have a dong? It is swell to have a stiffy; it's divine to own a dick, From the tiniest little tadger to the world's biggest prick. So three cheers for your Willy or John Thomas. "Hooray!" for your one-eyed trouser snake, Your piece of pork, your wife's best friend, your Percy or your cock. You can wrap it up in ribbons; you can slip it in your sock, But don't take it out in public or they will stick you in the dock And you won't come back.

Subject: ADD: Every Sperm Is Sacred (Monty Python) From: Joe Offer Date: 28 May 18 - 02:02 PM Iains posted a YouTube link to this inspiring song in another thread. This song has been mentioned here many times, but I don't think the lyrics have ever been posted. EVERY SPERM IS SACRED (Terry Jones, Michael Palin, Andre Jacquemin, David Howman) DAD: There are Jews in the world. There are Buddhists. There are Hindus and Mormons, and then There are those that follow Mohammed, but I've never been one of them. I'm a Roman Catholic, And have been since before I was born, And the one thing they say about Catholics is: They'll take you as soon as you're warm. You don't have to be a six-footer. You don't have to have a great brain. You don't have to have any clothes on. You're A Catholic the moment Dad came, Because Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate. CHILDREN: Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate. GIRL: Let the heathen spill theirs On the dusty ground. God shall make them pay for Each sperm that can't be found. CHILDREN: Every sperm is wanted. Every sperm is good. Every sperm is needed In your neighbourhood. MUM: Hindu, Taoist, Mormon, Spill theirs just anywhere, But God loves those who treat their Semen with more care. MEN: Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is great. WOMEN: If a sperm is wasted,... CHILDREN: ...God get quite irate. PRIEST: Every sperm is sacred. BRIDE and GROOM: Every sperm is good. NANNIES: Every sperm is needed... CARDINALS: ...In your neighbourhood! CHILDREN: Every sperm is useful. Every sperm is fine. FUNERAL CORTEGE: God needs everybody's. MOURNER #1: Mine! MOURNER #2: And mine! CORPSE: And mine! NUN: Let the Pagan spill theirs O'er mountain, hill, and plain. HOLY STATUES: God shall strike them down for Each sperm that's spilt in vain. EVERYONE: Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is good. Every sperm is needed In your neighbourhood. Subject: DT Corr:Always Look on the Bright Side of Life From: Joe Offer Date: 28 May 18 - 03:42 PM Here's the one Monty Python song that we chose for the Rise Again songbook. It's in the Digital Tradition, but here's my transcription. I think the DT has the line in italics wrong. ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE (Eric Idle) Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you’re chewing on life’s gristle, don’t grumble, give a whistle! And this’ll help things turn out for the best CHORUS And always look on the bright side of life Always look on the light side of life If life seems jolly rotten, there’s something you’ve forgotten And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing When you’re feeling in the dumps, don’t be silly chumps Just purse your lips and whistle: that’s the thing! / Always… For life is quite absurd and death’s the final word You must always face the curtain with a bow Forget about your sin, give the audience a grin Enjoy it, it’s your last chance anyhow So always look on the bright side of death Just before you draw your terminal breath Life’s a piece of shit when you look at it Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true You’ll see it’s all a show, keep ’em laughing as you go Just remember that the last laugh is on you And always look on the bright side of life Always look on the right side of life (repeat) ——w & m: Eric Idle © 1979 Kay-Gee-Bee Music Ltd. The Galaxy Song (C) Eric Idle/John Du Prez “Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown, and things seem hard or tough, and people are stupid, obnoxious or daft, and you feel that you've had quite enough…” C Em Am C Just re-member that you're standing on a planet that's e-volving Our galaxy it-self contains a hundred billion stars; Our universe it-self keeps on ex- panding and ex-panding, G And ro-tating at 9 hundred miles an hour. It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side; In all of the di-rections it can whiz; Dm G Dm It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned, It bulges in the middle 16 thousand light-years thick, but out by As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, G Dm C The sun that is the source of all our power. us it's just 3,000 light years wide. 12 million miles a minute, that's the fastest speed there is. Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Monty Python Songs From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 15 Sep 24 - 06:23 PM The version from "The Meaning of Life" has the last line "... for there's bugger-all here on earth!"; much better in my opinion. The version quoted by The Og seems to have been rewritten for non-Brits who may not know what "bugger all" means. I heard about US families who ordered their "Harry Potter" books from the UK, because they insist on the real thing. In times of online dictionaries, this should not cause unsurpassable difficulties. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Monty Python Songs From: Nick Dow Date: 15 Sep 24 - 07:43 PM Has anybody caught on to the tune used for the Lumberjack song? The song uses the A part only. I'll give you a clue Burl Ives was imprisoned for singing it the 1950's. Same tune or very close I think. |
