Well folks it would seem like once again the fates have conspired to thwart my visit to Portaferry. My Mother passed away early hours of this morning, so sadly I can't make it again this year.
John

Another question about Portaferry:

Does Portaferry have a post office (for some stamps for postcards)?

Just checked my booking with Linda, all is well & can't wait!

Have just been & had my back cracked so am feeling much better now (hooray). Not too many painkillers by the weekend - I suppose I'll have to rely on the Guinness again - oh dear....

Will have a few small surprises with me - not as much fun as the Cake workshop last year but should bring a few smiles.

Gearing up to a complete system restore on this thing so may not get back on-line before the weekend - in which case I wish you all safe travel now...

Hil

Oh and Fellow Loughstockers, dont forget something for Fibs famous (or is that infamous?) Raffle ,in aid of Mudcat funds, last year Leadfingers won a guided tour of the Ards Peninsula !!! and it was good fun all round, so if you have an unwanted xmas prezzie, or a bag of Jelly babies or whatever to add to the prizes, bring it along and you will get Points, and what do points make????

Okay folks, I'll probably be in Fiddlers Green from lunchtime on Friday, where we met last year. (More-or-less in The Square - yet again - for anyone who's new to the place.)

On Friday night a lot of the pubs will have their own stuff on so we'll have to find somewhere that avoids the regular entertainment. My suggestion is Dumigan's, on Ferry Street, but it's recently changed management and I don't know what the new policy is on sessions. But I will find out! There's always the hostel anyway - maybe we can use the conference room again like last year.

According to my personal weatherforecaster (my da) there's no sneachta in Portaferry yet, but we don't get snow all that often, being by the sea an' all.

So Mudguard et al, am I the first to leave home?
After lunch today (Wednesday) I am off to Ross-on-Wye to pick up Sandy for a Thursday morning drive to Birmingham International Airport, arriving at Belfast City Airport after lunch.
Then a bit of relaxing until it hots up on Friday evening.
See you all then!

Letty, my immense knowledge of the Irish Language tells me that you wrote something about "Cork". All the rest is still a mystery to me...

2 days till Portaferry, 1 day till London...

My paltry Irish skills (which don't get much more complicated than asking "would you like a cup of tea?") translate this as "it's altogether very cold in Cork"! I would believe it too.

No sugar for me ta.

Setting off from home at 5.45 am Thurs to drive to Liverpool for flight to Belfast. My previous experience of that time of the morning is usually from not having been to bed the night before...

Andreas, I am bringing Stewart with me so you will have someone to look up to for a change :0)

See you all soon!!

MudGuard: The hostel certainly does have some kitchen equipment (not necessarily up-to-date, but workable) & it was used well last year, both for a sponge cake & a wonderful roast dinner!!!!!

Back on-line after a raggy system restore - till the next time...

Keeping fingers crossed for no snow, good luck to those travelling tomorrow, enjoy the quiz night!
Hil x
