Subject: Pint & Dale replace Tom Lewis, April 25 From: GUEST,ShipSing Date: 26 Mar 09 - 11:14 AM Tom Lewis has reluctantly cancelled his concert appearance at Northwest Seaport in Seattle on April 25. It seems that the U.S. has raised the cost of a visa for Tom to work in the U.S. to $1000. (Tom lives in Canada.) We hope this isn't the last we see of Tom in the U.S.; he's a wonderful performer. William Pint & Felicia Dale have been booked to replace Tom on April 25. William & Felicia are another great act that Northwest Seaport was hoping to book sometime this year anyway. Here's more info: Pint & Dale in Concert Northwest Seaport Maritime Concert Series Saturday, April 25 8:00 – 10:30 pm. Center for Wooden Boats, 1010 Valley St, Seattle WA. William Pint and Felicia Dale rank among North America's most exciting and acclaimed nautical performers. Their music fits into the world of modern folk, rock and popular song, but it's rich with myth, narrative, rhythm & rhyme from the days of the tall ships. For more information: http://www.pintndale.com/ Admission: $12 General. $10 Seniors, Youths and Members of Northwest Seaport and the Center for Wooden Boats. Coffee, tea, baked goods, and more, are available. Maritime music CDs for sale. Hosted by Philip Morgan. For more information: http://www.nwseaport.org/programs.html or 206-447-9800. |

Subject: RE: Pint & Dale replace Tom Lewis, April 25 From: Marc Bernier Date: 26 Mar 09 - 04:03 PM Interesting. Canada just charged me $150 to do a one night gig in Sherbrooke, QC. I thought the Buck and a half was ridiculous. |
Subject: RE: Pint & Dale replace Tom Lewis, April 25 From: Haruo Date: 26 Mar 09 - 10:41 PM Maybe they're trying to balance the budget and turn around the sagging world economy on the backs of folksingers. Anybody know who (US, Canada, UK, wherever) sets these rates and to whom the loud complaints ought to be directed? Haruo |
