Colin, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with George Papavgeris. I think I see what he sees in your eyes, its in his as well. His website is here, If you don't already know George is slightly over 30 as well and started his songwriting and solo performing career only a few years ago. He is not as pretty as KT Tunstall either. He is a very generous chap and I am sure will help you a lot.

To make a success in music you need to be driven, focused and determined, but all of this has to be in the right direction. Once that is all in place its easy. There are thousands of performers with talent but no drive, focus and determination; and there are hundreds heading in the wrong direction.

Spending time speaking to people like George will help you find the direction to steer yourself in, then its just perspiration between you and a career in music.

Colin - been seeing you for many years at Swinton, solo and with the band (Roam?) and I enjoy your stuff immensely. If nothing else start selling some of your stuff at the City of Manchester stadium:-) I like both the covers and self penned stuff. Not sure about the Rio and David one. Seems a bit too much heart string pulling but what do I know! Wouldn't recommend you do Yankee Lady anywhere Pete Ryder has a regular presence - He seems to have made it his own at Swinton anyway:-)

Yes, I think you could go professional. All depends on the breaks I suppose. Good luck whatever you decide.

There are certainly people out there who will like what you're doing--your job is to find them and play for them. That is really all there is to it. But you do have to put time into the finding them part.

I think Mudcat as a support and encouragement works best when people go for it, then tell us all about it soon after. Putting a CD in the Mudcat Auction is a good way to get reviews posted in the Forum, for example; sharing good experiences from gigs, etc., usually results in a flurry of "attaboys."

Mudcat also can be supportive in the planning stages, but IMO not as much as after the fact. Continue to take the plunge and post about it, and I think you will find this to be the case.
