"Where in the hell does this song say to bring guns and try to solve anything with violence?" (katlaughing)

Who in the hell said it does? R

That was the inference in Bill Hahn's post, imo:

Apparently it does---none which speaks of peace by that note.

Your analysis of Iraq is right on. Admittedly.   But, as I just saw on the Stephen Colbert program-truly funny with serious overtones---you cannot bring democracy with an M16. As Colbert said to his interviewee---only with a musket as we did.

Seriously, that is the point--you cannot do this with guns. We have to realize different cultures exist.

Lovely Leitrim/Last night I had the Strangest Dream seems to fit the lyrics and the pathos of the song.

All the very best with it.

Suggested additional verses.

Come join us Flower of Israel if we stand hand in hand
The guns may cease, there may be peace throughout our troubled lands.
Until that day let's hope and pray that God will keep us strong.
So we can teach our children what is right and what is wrong.

To all the Flowers in all the world please rise and play your part.
Your sons and daughters have the blood that flows within your heart.
If you believe there shall be peace then teach and teach them well.
Then you and they can hold the sway and save us from this hell.

Mary, I thought you might like to read something I found in some old papers of mine, today. It is form whne I lived in Massachusetts and went to a women's group once per month. We'd sing, dance, meditate and chant. I don't remember the tune for this, nor is the author noted, but it seems to fir in this thread:

When every woman in the world
Has her mind set on freedom,
When every woman in the world
Dreams the sweet dream of Peace,

When every woman, in every nation
Young and old, each generation,
Puts her hands out in the name of love
There will be no more war.

If anyone knows the author or tune, please let us know.
