Subject: IVFDF dance festivalin York 2026 (UK) From: Mr Red Date: 14 Oct 25 - 05:35 AM IVFDF 2026 Fakebook page Quote - IVFDF 2026 will indeed be in York! This will be on the weekend of Friday 27th February to Sunday 1st March. Usually based at the Universities, which in York is roughly 2 miles SE of the Minster. Significantly only bona fide students of any University can use the indoor camping, but it is not high season so alternatives will not be too busy. The usual format is workshops in dance/morris/instrument/technique/etc, and Bal/Ceilidh/etc and maybe concerts. The committee have had only 6 months to prepare - usually it is two years. They may be students (mostly) but they, IME, are well organised. They are our future! |

Subject: RE: IVFDF dance festival in York Feb 2026 (UK) From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Oct 25 - 08:04 PM The InterVarsity Folk Dance Festival will run from the 27th February to 1st March 2026 at the University of York. Sounds like fun, but I can't imagine wanting to go to York in February. |
Subject: RE: IVFDF dance festival in York Feb 2026 (UK) From: Doug Chadwick Date: 15 Oct 25 - 04:33 AM I pretty much guessed that FDF meant 'Folk Dance Festival' but I could have been here until this time next year and not come up with 'InterVarsity'. So, what is IME? Is it a group of people or, perhaps, text-speak for something like 'in my estimation'? If so, it would be better if initialisms and text-speak were not mixed in the same post. I'm easily confused! DC |

Subject: RE: IVFDF dance festival in York Feb 2026 (UK) From: Doug Chadwick Date: 15 Oct 25 - 09:12 AM It didn't really help - I had to look up HTH to find out what it meant. Where the technology limits the number of characters in a message, text-speak has it's place but that is not the case here. Clear communication is the responsibilty of the poster, not the reader. English is a wonderful language - why not use it? DC |
