Must be good, even Keith Scowcroft has bought a ticket, so Terry Whelan told me on Wednesday!

Scowie's having a birthday celebration soon - he claims its his 60th but I'm not sure about that.

I believe that all artists advertised on the web-site above have now confirmed their attendance.

Web-page prettyfied somewhat also.

Even Google searches now work!

Manchester seems to be buzzing with activity this month:

16th October: Ewan MacColl event
23rd October: Manchester Extravaganza
24th October: Swinton Folk Club event

Looks like people are spoiled for choice in the North West of England!

I saw Geoff last night and asked him to pass on my appreciation.

A Big THANK YOU to all involved in putting this together.

Everyone warmed to the venue which as you may imagine from it's title is incredibly atmospheric. Some of the participants will be visiting the library again for song research purposes only - singing dosn't go down well during normal opening hours :0)

Because of the warm atmosphere many many singers sang their socks off.

When I get my head together .....

I thought the event was great and the singing was great.

There were three Scottish ladies who sang - one was my wife Helen, one was Alison McMoreland and one other - I only got her first name which was Aileen. I need to know her second name so I can look out for her!!

Best regards,

Dave Eyre

Many thanks to the performers and the audience that made this such a wonderful sharing event.

I shall publish photographs on the web-site shortly together with sound clips of some of the performances.

Thanks also to the Salford Working Class Library for permission to include the plaque dedicated to Ewan macColl in the web-site.

I also add my thanks to the people who made things run so smoothly behind the scenes and catered magnificantly with the food arrangements.

Dave,

I think Aileen Carr is the name you are looking.

I've just discovered Aileen Carr's album and if I had know that she was there I would have begged a lift over from Sheffield and to hell with the decorating.

Other way round with the Extravaganza and Swinton, Bob! 23rd - Swinton. 24th - Extravaganza. Either way the good folks around here are spoiled for choice:-)

Saw Peggy with Martin Carthy and Mike Waterson on Saturday. What a show!

Cheers

Thanks for that BobvG. Do you have an email for her as well? I have contacted the record comapny.

Apart from her and my scottish wife getting on so well - it turns out we have even more in common than we thought.

Best regards,

Dave Eyre

Sorry Dave, I don't have her email address.

We have just had some visitors that we don't know very well tried to gain entry through the front door. Glass everywhere!

Luckily the Yale was 'double locked' so they failed in their attempt to gain entry.

I shall be some while before I get back to updating the web-site I think.

I have uploaded photographs to my Yahoo web-site, but I'm not sure whether these will be accessible by anyone else.

URL is: Ewan MacColl 'usual suspects!'

All Rights Reserved 2004

Perhaps John Routledge can confirm whether access is possible?

PS: Happy Birthday tommorrow Sue vG!!!

Just my 2p worth of thanks:
to Terry W for organising the event, and to Sue vG and Barb'ry for the wonderful food! Also to the librarian of the Salford Working Class Library for a truly fascinating tour of the place. It was another great time, with some stunning singing.

And many happy returns to Sue!

I have saved the photographs with access restrictions removed to enable public viewing. Can someone confirm I have now eliminated the need to supply a Yahoo identity & password?

The URL is 'the Usual Suspects'

Thanx,

Bob vG
